Just written off the first six months of next year. Not booking a thing. Won't even bother getting a calendar, what's the point? All the days are the same.

It does get like that !! Don't want to sound wet but try to get out and connect with nature a lot more if you can and embrace the changing Seasons ... I spent many years abroad in places where things didn't change much during a year and the one thing I really love in UK and miss if I'm away is watching things transform so radically from one Season to the next in the Countryside.

It's so easy to live with your eyes so firmly on the door in a place not blessed with great weather like UK that you miss a lot of what's under your nose. It was only by being 'grounded' here in the past and getting outside a lot to keep sane I even took time to look properly and appreciate what was here... and this last year I knew exactly what I needed to go look for. Facing down constantly thwarted hopes and plans is a sure way to misery and frustration. If we can't get happiness we can at least aim for calmer contentment day to day until we can. It'll all become possible again in time.

During the March - May lockdown in the UK we had fabulous weather, and -stretching the one-hour exercise limit to four or five - I walked and walked and walked around the countryside near here. But right now 15 mins outdoors and you're wet, miserable and cold, and nowhere to warm up with a pint (and in tier 3 here I'm not sure the cafes are open for a coffee).

The good news is my local non-league footy team has permission to allow 300 in, so I might get a live game to watch soon. At least I can look at my bank account and see how much I'm saving by staying in and not doing anything - which will get spent on holidays when we finally CAN get away. And I've finally got the builders round to fix my garage roof, so they will be company for a week or so.

Mind you, December's miserable under normal circumstances, can't think of a better time to be imprisoned.....

Anyone got any any idea about time stamping of PCR tests? We have some to return for testing that must be taken 72 hrs before our arrival in Tenerife at 14:30 on Friday 18th. If I do the kids at 7:30am, on Tuesday 15th, instead of after 14:30, will anyone know? The alternative is to do Wednesday morning, but that leaves us buggering around hoping the tests results are late back.....
Has the quarantine news for the Canaries screwed your trip dude?

Superbly put ?. I have had to repeat this type of thing constantly to the missus to keep morale up. Soooooon just doesn't cut it with this

here's a balearic update. I haven't got the latest numbers yet, but there has been an important change which makes sense. from 20th dec onwards, not just international arrivals, but now also travellers coming from the mainland will have to have a negative PCR test, unless they are from an area which has less than 150 per 100k incidence. for balearic residents which are returning to the islands they get the test paid.

edit: here's a newspiece for it

Latest info seems to be that FCDO will still not ban non-essential travel to Canaries, so insurance will be valid, and no cancellation/refund, just the quarantine situation to deal with

just read quarantine is going down to 10 days now for people returning to UK from international travel

As Stivi has said, its now been reduced to 10 days which might make it more bearable for school?

So, my mate who got Covid end of October has symptoms of angina. He's been extremely fatigued, gastric problems, foggy headed, then severe chest pain started last week. Tried him with a GTN spray which really helps, hes getting booked in for full investigations

48, reasonable health, no underlying conditions, no prior signs of cardiac issues. Doctor said that the talk amongst GPs is lots of people turning up with wide range of problems following severe or bad 'mild' covid

Herd immunity/ only flu etc etc

Stay safe

Well neighbours 2 doors down decided to have a house party. 4 cars turned up with visitors blocking the drives and access. Loud karaoke in the garden till midnight and then inside afterwards.

Then they leave to BYE, BYE, NICE TO SEE YOU!

So been real discreet ?

There are still abandoned cars blocking drives as some where too pissed to drive back.

(We're in tier 3)

If I get asked to take deliveries when they are out in future, I'll be declining.

Good job I'm not going out today ?. Bet they didn't leave keys with neighbours either.

Never know they might have been infected just in time for xmas ??
