Looks massively political in Manchester at the moment and interesting a lot of the hospitality industry WANT to go to Tier 3, because at the moment they're in Tier 2 but expected to Tier 3 so customer confidence is so low no-one is going out anyway and they don't get access to full support package because they are in Tier 2. Sacha Lord coming in for a fair bit of criticism.

Also what's the story on ICUS? Are they really practically full throughout Manchester? I thought this virus had weakened?
As far as I am aware there has been no real change in the virus

I've heard the very wooden Hannock suggest it is political in Manchester, yet both the Tory MPs are also challenging the lack of science for moving to Tier 3?

What are they going to do if they find him??
Dunno there 60 jobs on the line if he doesn't come back or is probably dead, he's been there about 30yrs. The jobs are on tourists boat that go out to where he has been for years... Knowing Kerry people they might get some to dress up as a Dolphin.... My mates local Fake New report got slated this morning for this...

All I’ve seen from Burnham is asking for more money to go to Tier 3 so doesn’t sound like science is involved much at all

Im still not understanding the point of spending money on all of these Nightingale hospitals and then not using them. Manchester has one at Manchester Central for 750 beds at a cost of £10m. But its sat empty??

And while I appreciate Doctors and Specialsts take years to train, surely there has been time to retrain and upskill staff from other parts of the service to help releive pressure on the covid wards.

The kind of doctors and nurses you need are fairly specific, and the problem is you take them out of hospitals meaning other patients are neglected. NHS is already stretched for staff, let alone needed a few hundred at new sites.

Lets be honest, Nightingale hospitals probably become ‘death’ wards if used

It is all about the politics. It’s an absolute outage what we see before us. Burnham and Boris won’t blink. In the meantime more will die as a result of what they should have done days ago. Typical of labour, they think there is a bottomless pit of cash. Typical of the Tories, they would rather show the world how incompetent they are and play party politics then provide real leadership. And while oversees more deaths than should happen by refusing to go into tier 3, he is demanding a national lockdown. You could not make it up. Is it like this in other countries at present?

What they don’t say in the Manchester reports is that hospitals are at the same occupancy levels as this time last year. It is an issue. But the media are seeking to provide added scares to put the icing on the cake. They really are a bunch of wankers.

I may be wrong, but it seems to me the Manchester stalemate will be used as an excuse to place the whole country into a circuit breaker. Coincide with the half term school break. And, more importantly in my opinion, stifle all the planned Halloween house parties. Wales' start theirs on Friday. Could we align?

I think it’s too late for that. It’s taken Wales weeks to prepare for it. And they don’t know how they will pay for it as they are skint. Starmer put pay to any national lockdown. It’s all about the politics now now. It was less so in wave 1 but it is very much so in wave 2.

all the local councils up here rejected the idea of tier 3 as the gov proposed. Happening in a few places not just Manc

Burnham has been clear in stating the figures are as they were back in March, and also highlighted the improvements in recent days. A "bottomless pit of cash" is a funny point to make given how much the Tories have thrown towards companies without following the usual tendering process to ensure value for money and no conflicted interest. And likewise, the party politics is across all parties, Labour and SNP included.

The bottomless bit isn’t funny, it’s a reality.

Burnham would be best advised to stop playingthe socialist economist and start stopping excess deaths. The same could be said of the tories who should be showing leadership when it’s desperately needed most. As a centrist I bloody hate the lot of them.

I can’t speak for the Scots. But I would be interested to see to what extent Party politics are getting in the way of wave 2 interventions in the rest of Europe

Despite no events since mid 2000s, 1 owner in jail and the other in Australia, someone (unrelated) who set up Sundissential Ltd in 2016 has managed to get a £223k government grant...
