Cocoon @ PACHA discussion

It's not that its on a midweek day- it's because I think Sven I losing his popularity.

On the Koze date, I saw Koze trying to fiddle around with the mixer and Sven rudely blocking him off and almost pushing him. Kinda says it all there

I think it's unfair to label it a complete failure. There have been some really busy dates and even the quiet ones have been amazing musically.
No doubt Sven is not "flavour of the month" compared to other parties' talismen, but then that has been the case for a good few years already. It's surely the switch to Pacha and people's (in my opinon) inaccurate perceptions of it, coupled with it being a quieter season and visitor's changing travel habits regarding length and time of stays.
I think it needs another season to really judge fairly with some obvious tweaks needed.
Maybe after Year 20 - and a phenomenal 20 at that - it will be time for some drastic changes. But at the moment, I don't think so. It isn't a crisis yet.
All I would say, it that members of this forum - and the wider community - who have negative feelings towards the old Pacha, really do need to give the new Pacha a try.

Think these two guys go way back and are great friends so not sure what was going on here.

Pacha was not busy at Cocoon neither at solomun neither labyrinth
good news for those that want some place on the dancefloor
ps:im just wondering if it same for Paris by night...looks like less people in pacha this year
Pacha loosing fame?

I agree with you on Labyrinth and Cocoon but Solomun and Dixon was rammed and week before with Black Madonna was still decently busy as well...unless you have reports from a more recent date?

Ibiza is less busy as a whole, the club's and promoters can't rely on packed houses week in week out anymore the gravy train has stopped!

Not sure what more I can add to the above, and being a Cocoon and Pacha fan, I am biased towards both. I can only go my group of people, and the Wednesday thing is just a no-no with regards to weekends. People are now doing 2-3 night-ers (some friends are even doing 1-night stays), and Wednesday simply is not compatible for this.

My observation is that some of the Cocoon dates have just seemed like Sven +1. Of course that is great for long sets etc, but so many of the +1s are the the DJs that you would also get at Solomun. Is it just too similar a night?

I'd be intrigued what @white_isle_calling and @stivi say, but have the Villalobos, Hawtin, and the nights where Sven has invited more emerging artists like Peggy Gou been the ones that have attracted more attention? How much pull does a Sven All-Night-Long have these days?

On a wider Pacha question, I think some of the nights just feel stale and not different enough to others. I'd be intrigued how Labyrinth is performing Vs the old Insane nights. I'm not 100% convinced in an international orientated club like Pacha if HS82 is who you want as a headliner?

Paris By Night? Look at the branding of that Vs say Glitterbox! Pacha need to be putting on nights like Glitterbox - the freaking club is made for a pure house night like that. Bob Sinclair feels like some early 00s DJ on tour.

I've not been, but it seems they have managed to do a pretty good job with 'Mars' on Tuesday. Not my DJs, but the night feels different to other nights on the island.

Solomun is obviously working well as always.

You going on Sunday?

Maybe after cocoon 20th year, Sven should put on a few special parties and not be weekly to keep the brand going.

After the fallout from last off-season, i'd really take nothing as a given. But I think the talk of any impending death is premature and a little bit dramatic.

Not been to cocoon yet at pacha but did go Friday hs82

The new design creates a bit of a bottle neck going down the stairs onto the dance floor

Loads standing on the stairs .

Looking at the Dj go down to the right there is a couple of bars and toilets but it’s soul less , can’t see the Dj Pillars in the way .

Looking at the Dj and go to the left and you just see vip

It’s like the same guy who designed hi has a go at pacha

Just isn’t 100% for me

I think next year will be the last year unfortunately
Maybe go to one off nights
He's definitely losing his popularity and clout with the masses (not with me)
Sven is no spring chicken either

Edit* a lot of nights are suffering this year so perhaps too early to say

Cant comment on his Popularity in Ibiza but the night Sven is headlining at WHP this year is the only or one of very few events there that has zero tickets left, even off the street sellers on facebook etc
