Cocoon @ PACHA discussion

He only played solo for 2 hours - which relatively speaking, is a short set for Papa. Next week when we get the full proper uninterrupted all night long, I expect we'll get the full spectrum from twinkly electronica, stomping techno, house classics and maybe some flirtings with trance.

WIC, if you're there early next week keep your ears out for a deep and housey number with a jazzy trumpet riff. Last week he played it during his opening set (pre-KiNK) and again at the beginning of the carry-on the next morning. Most of the tracks he plays twice I'd expect to know but this one was a complete left field wild card. Thought I caught it on Shazam but alas it was the one he played directly afterward (which was Emmanuel Satie "Don't Forget To Go Home" -- to give you an idea). The type of track you'd expect to hear on the beach...I suspect won't be dusted off again except during the early minutes of an All Night Long...

A hail mary but I have to ask...! Was the track of the night & day for me last week.

Finally managed to make it back to some form of sanity - Cocoon was for me the fourth consecutive BIG night out and I knew the end was nigh but simply couldn’t miss it.

We arrived around 1am - I kept my eyes out for the other spotlighters but couldn’t see anyone from where I was on the right side near the bar.

Musically I thought DJ Koze was good - nothing groundbreaking until the last 30 minutes of his set but a good warm up nonetheless.

Sven was on superb form IMO - although I do agree with @white_isle_calling that he is still playing a lot of the same tracks I saw on my last visit during June, it was still a superb set nonetheless. The B2B too for me was great. Musically another amazing Cocoon.

The crowd was excellent - very clued up, nobody on their phones filming, a real mix of ages and nationalities which was refreshing, although the numbers did seem very low for an August Cocoon. I know DJ Koze isn’t a huge pull for your non clued-up punter, but it still seemed quiet to me. Although we loved it like that after the heaving business of some other events we attended.

Full review to come when I’m back in England on the other events - suffice to say Cocoon was the best once again by a country mile from a musical, atmosphere and crowd perspective.

Good review mate! So many people I know coming back are saying it’s their favourite crowd by a country mile (but we always knew that).

I know it’s not quiet, but I wonder if the numbers are slightly less than they thought they’d be? Though a Cocoon-er is probably more a June and September visitor?

Yeah that’s what I’ve been thinking - Gerds date for Week 2 during June was busier from my recollection that the week just gone which I did find strange given it being peak season.

I just assumed that it’s was a more English based crowd, most of whom will be attending Paradise and wouldn’t have a clue who DJ Koze is or even Sven dare I say it in comparison to someone like Jamie Jones.

I personally don’t mind the crowd levels as the atmosphere is still second to none - but my only worry is how sustainable that crowd level is for the venue. I really do hope it’s not an issue - I’ve been coming for years and nothing comes close to Cocoon at Amnesia or now at Pacha. It really would make the island a lot less appealing for me when it ever comes to its end.

Yes, I think I know the track you mean. Not sure we have an ID on it yet. Will check for you.

The other element that stood out about this track was it took a big left turn at the breakdown. Synths and melody that came out of nowhere and stepped things up a level... I thought he was mixing in a new track the first time I heard it; realized on second listen that it was the same track. Tale of two tunes.

Keep your ears peeled tomorrow night pretty please!

Same as. Watched the fireworks with the intention of going after. Before I knew it, it was 3am in Dalt Vila and I was drunk and broke. So discobus home and no Sven.
Felt worse today than I did yesterday after our club marathon

Fair play gents - I didn’t realise you were both on that marathon.

On another note how long before Cocoon announce the guest alongside Sven for the closing party? I’m hoping a little while yet on the off chance that spikes flight prices

the whole clubbing team did it together - 8 people strong.

not sure when that will be but I'd make sure to be on island from 3rd to 6th october anyway.
