weds night started with a spotlight team dinner in ibz town (la dispensa, I thought it was really good). during dinner I was made aware that the really well-planned villa afters for thursday was canceled last minute. the soundsytem and everything had already been installed, everything was set up...but then I think the people who had rented the house and had offered to do the afters there got cold feet. to all those from the team this put a pretty big damper on the vibe - we'd been very much looking forward to this one.

anyway, I didn't want to let my night get ruined and decided to stay positive and enjoy the night as much as possible and then we'll see what happens.

got to pacha just after midnight and had a fantastic night. liked sven's warm-up, then kink live was superb and sven again was also great. also spent quite some time in room two with shonky - loved the groovy stuff.

so far easily one of my favourite cocoons of the season.

as for afters...eventually someone said oh we could do a small one at my place and half an hour later we were there. it was literally 50 people no more than that. and because the house was at the end of such a bad dirt road (when I say bad I do mean bad) it was clear no taxi would bring any additional people. so from an afters in a posh villa for a few hundred people it turned into a super spontaneous afters in a super basic typical ibiza finca with sven playing on the porch. the music he played during the day (started at 8 or so and played until past 3pm, then maurizio took over) was fantastic. I've got some shazams and took lots of notes so over the weekend I've got time to go through them and will post here. but it is as I've been saying for years: some of the best music sven only plays at the afters, because a lot of it isn't made for a club that's at fever pitch.

we left around 6pm I think. so it wasn't a full 24hr shift but still long enough.

bit tired now so in recovery mode until sunday when it's time for another big one, dixon + solomun.

Im going to do Cocoon over a rammed Paradise closing in September. Svens not on and it’s Hawtin with Tini in the other room. What’s Cocoon like on a Night Sven doesn’t play? It was this or Labyrinth to see the new Pacha

Dont have an answer for that re Cocoon at Pacha, but last i went to Cocoon without Sven was 2015 during peak season in August w/Ricardo mainly on the terrace and it was as crowded as usual IMO. With that lineup you've got I'd spend quite a bit of time w/Tini in the side room. I like her range and I'd imagine it'll be a good vibe in there.

i may cancel cocoon closing (ticket bought here) in order to experience la troya closing :D ill think about it day -1
i have no ideas about djs in room2 and who is the dj tbh in main room?

Better sven return to BMI as im not wlling anymore to pay 40€ to see him Destino, Free is always OK :lol: (they gave free discount at pacha for Destino, free b4 7pm)

Hawtin got decent reviews at his earlier date in the season.

Illario is usually pretty reliable for a good time!

if you like techno, then there is no reason to skip cocoon on that day. great lineup!
 
I think I talked about cocoon experience but I'll post it again-
I went Aug 1st and it was nice seeing the Cocoon production and dancers. It felt like a clued up crowd musically and as Perly said, the crowd level was okay enough so that it didn't feel so busy. I welcomed it too as Circo and Solomun and Dixon earlier that week were crazy busy.

I enjoyed the whole night musically. Cassy played some nice deep house music in the other room. There was this nice cozy vibe throughout. Next week is gonna be huge with Peggy Gou and Appolonia in the side room

For sure it was not rammy ,lot of place to dance :D, i guess coccon lack numbers, same at Destino if u compare to Capriati that was sold out & more more people at Destino for Capriati...
if Cassy back for closing i will be pleased..u call it Deephouse? :eek: it's House Bro :lol:

that year ricardo played lots of dates by him self with no sven & he was 100% but 1 out of 10 techno listeners like his playing style.

I really do felt like this was played peak time at the DJ Koze week unless I’m wrong? Unfortunately sound cloud was on full volume at that stage so my memory is a little hazy....
