Clubbing in Cancun!

I'm going to cancun, mexico in aug for 2 weeks and just wondered if anyone knew what the nightlife and clubbing scene is like out there?

any tips people?

A dozen of my good friends are there at the moment...i'll let you know when they get back. Some girly mates of mine went though last week and hated it.
 
Cheesetastic when I was there. Really bad 'The Mask' character's entrance on a trapeze was the highlight in one club. Britney featured heavily on the playlist and it was impossible to fight through the crowd at the bar for a drink after paying the 'entrance and all drink included' door charge.

But that was 5/6 years ago and we didn't search out better stuff, because I'd retired from proper clubbing at the time.

well excuse me. what is that supposed to mean? all im asking is for a bit of advice, just like several other hundereds on here. :?

That sounds about right...me and the crew ventured into Cancun for a couple of night... :? :cry: :roll:

We were based in Playa del Carmen which is sooo much better...some relatively cool beach front bars which really kick off...shades of Bora Bora... 8)

We also found a trance rave in a national park on the beach...this was absolutely blinding... :D :D

well this trip will be my ibiza warm up, so i hope its better than bucklys experience.

I can tell you that Cancun will not even be remotely close to a tune-up trip for Ibiza. Hopefully, you can find a cool club there, but it's mostly a bunch of drunk high school and/or college kids who are looking to hook up w/ each other. There really is no sophisticated club culture out there. But, I am sure you can find some decent beach front bars to relax.

It sure is pretty, warm waters and white beaches. If you want to go to party, then go during Spring Break... every college student in the universe is there during that time, getting wasted, acting obnoxious and participating in stripping contests. The clubs are fun if you are totally wasted of course, but don't expect to hear any quality music.

Obviously I suggest going maybe during the summertime when the party life is still alive, but you won't get your shoes thrown up on every time you go out by some college kid that just ripped 8 beer bongs :roll:
 
i was there for a week back in 2003. it was alright, but it cannot even come close to ibiza. most of the clubs play top 40 music, hip hop, pop, and some cheesy house. the only club worth checking out there is la boom, where you can hear some pretty decent house/prog house.

the bar scene is quite big there, so if you like bar hopping, you might enjoy this, but it's full of drunken college guys and gals. and if you are looking to get laid, your chances are pretty big :)

Cancun is like California, but with a lot less Mexicans.
 
Word to the wise......dont get behind any of our "cousins" at the buffet!!! you'll be waiting ages and when you get there it's empty :evil:
 
Hi,

Like Buckley said `Coco bongo´is good for the craic, and the show is quite good. And like Wishy said La Boom plays some decent house (Oakey was on 2 days before we arrived, and Morillo 2 days after we left :? ) Also G spot is ok, its on stilts in the lagoon.

But overall cancun is alright, decent shopping, great weather, lovely people (the mexicans), Fantastic excursions (try isla de mujeres, stunning!!), and a nice white long beach.

Which hotel you staying at?
