Chinese herbal medicine

I have private health, does that mean I can claim back on any acupuncture/physio?

Check your contract but yes I would imagine so...

I normally pay £15-20 a session - also - if you find the physio is too much for you (I am too tense apparently) go for a massage first before your physio - so much easier for her work the muscles release the tension etc......

I think that is your first port of call before the Accupuncture... as Accupuncture can make you feel a bit weird the first time you have this treatment, really tired, very buzzy and sometimes a bit sickly..... depends on how susceptible to the treatment I think.

Do you think they work though?

well I believe massage and things like that works for my migraines instead of chugging a pharmacy load of pills to 'cure' it... the less I take the better IMO

I do beleive that a of things like hedaaches, flu etc can be cured just by eating right, getting the right vitamins and minerals, and watching what we eat, sleep than just a quick fix painkiller pill

I'm definatly with you on that, I won't take a painkiller unless I really really need it, which is not very ofter as I follow quite a strict healthy lifestyle (most of the time  ) and am never ill.

Just don't know anything about Chinese acupuncture and want to give it a go, but obv if it doesn't work I don't want needles stuck in me for no reason. :?

Do you think I'll need my doctor to refere me if I'm going to claim on my health plan?

Oh yes, forgot to mention that, it will tell you in your contract if you need a referral - some health schemes ask for this, but others dont, you just need to call them, advise your health scheme membership number and they give you the go ahead.

You can always give it a go.. and then if you don't like it dont' go back.. It may work better for some than for others.

I'm booked to have acupuncture tomorrow, It's just dawned on me I am **** scared of needles though. :?
Anyone who has had it done can you advise if this will cause a problem?

Are you having it on your neck/back - it doesn't hurt and you can't see it, it just feels like someone is putting a screw in you and turning it :?

That sounds horrific. 8O I thought it would be more along the lines of trying to get a splinter out type of pin *****. :?

It's like someone putting a screw in you and it doesn't hurt 8O Doesn't sound like my cup of tea I must be honest :!:

 I guess I didn't explain it very well

It just feels a bit funny (not painful at all) and it's how I imagine somebody putting a screw in my back and turning it would feel :?

Doesnt hurt at all the only "weird" feeling is when they sort of twist the needle (they are sooooo thin you hardly feel it going in) to make sure its in the correct area or when they flick the ends of the needle once they are in place..... you can feel a strange pulsing feeling between all the points of the needles (rather pleasant feeling actually - very relaxing once they are all in place)

Will I bleed? How far about will the needle go in?
