Chelsea vs Barcelona

what struck me most about the match was that, when time came for chelsea to throw away Mourinho's rigid preparation and thorough rule book and play with their heart and soul they just couldn't do it
I think that moment came, it just came far too late in the game (and perhaps with the right players for it - Duff, Cole - already substituted).

John Terry making a run on goal looked pretty passionate to me

I'm talking about talen raised through youth FC, not who has the most money at this present time so can afford to poach players because they cant raise any themselves!

Raised from the West Ham Academy...

Cole
Lampard
Ferdinand
Defoe
Carrick

How many from Spurs youth academy (if they've even got one?!)

Ian Bishop
Trevor Morley ;)

Not altogether correct. He wrote in his Portuguese article was that he had seen Rijkaard in Frisk's room. What he admitted later was that it wasn't he who actually "saw" it, but 2 of his assistants (when he wrote it he meant "seen" in the sense of "understood" if you get the drift0

what do you mean he meant seen in the sens of understood, there is no room for lost in translation fo articles in your native language.

so lets clear this up, he said he saw rijkaard in frisk's room, regardless of what actually happened or who might have allegedley seen it, that is a lie morbyd - i.e. not the truth. The truth would have been, "i didn't see it" or for chelsea fans who need it to be true, he should have said "one of those people who lick my ass, you know the ones that just say 'yes boss, yes josé' to everything i say, yeah, well it was them who saw it"

stop it john you're killing me with your blinded loyalty

i think there are 5 are poss 6 sides that, on their day, could win the trophy. i want los azulgrana to win naturally, but i love watching arsenal play, they are fantastic to watch, best english team by a mile when they're at the races - good luck gooners from all kopites;)

Just presenting the other side of the argument, Grego. I'm not beyong believing Mourinho has made mistakes.

and you be nice or I'll start talking about your hometown team's little problem with another bunch of Portuguese ;)

THe issue is that there's always an excuse to Mourinho mistakes, even if it's a lie, that IMO, and coming from someone with education and semi intelligent, can't be considered as a mistake ;)

Im VERY happy with the draw. (Which is probably what Liverpool said before  )

Benfica with 2nd leg at home shouldnt be a problem, even if we're without Messi.

The Semi will be harder, I hope its Lyon not Milan. But we'll have Messi back, maybe even Xavi, plus again 2nd leg at home. Cant really complain

I wish these 3 weeks would pass quickly!!!!! :(

Sil, I saw the Basketball result.. looks like we may have 2 European Champions this year ;)

its not about mistakes morb, its about josé being a d1ck;) .

we deserved to go out john, although we were probably the better team over 2 legs, we made a hat full of chances and couldn't score to save our lives and benfica took theirs and did what they had to do. so good luck to them. in fact it was very much like chelsea against us last year (although without all the chances), if you don't score in 180 mins you don't deserve to go through mate. therefore we, this year, and chelsea, last year, got a fair deal.

are you going to give me your ESPN-style opinion of the game??;)

It was a good match (i was there), and at the moment, 3 victories in 3 games but the team is a bit irregular and in fact, if Navarro has a bad day the team has a bad day and if a word can describe Navarro is irregular :?

But at the moment we are the best in our group :D

Perhaps not an excuse (who asked to be excused?), but yes, there's always another side of the story to the ones printed in the press upon which you all base many of your judgements.

The world is not black and white, Sil. Mourinho is not an angel, nor is he the devil. He is a human being working as a football manager with a very successful record, but who has made some PR missteps (some intentionally, others more as a result of how the press dealt with them).

Frank Rijkaard spat at people... I find that much more reprehensible than a lie, but I haven't judged him on that for the rest of his life. I don't know him personally, so it would be wrong to do so.
