Cheap flights & hotels

There are ways and means of catching people at airports. It isn't hard... the police have used similar surveillance at football for years

It’s so embarrassing and makes life harder for decent British people living & working in Ibiza who get tarred by that brush.

Even the Glasgow Ryanair route was dropped this year.

No way!

Was the reason for cancelling this route due to the misbehaviour of the passengers?

I flew the Glasgow Ibiza flight once for a stag do. Was extremely rowdy, to say the least. The staff were threatening to land in France. They’d stopped serving alcohol not long into the flight and people were cracking open their own bottles instead 🤦‍♂️

Never experienced a flight to Ibiza that you see on the videos being posted. I’ve seen 2 people get arrested when we landed but that’s it. One of them for drinking their own booze and the other who picked the intercom phone up, pressed a button that went through to the pilot. 😂

The only time I have had a 'calm' flight to Ibiza was a Ryanair from Birmingham for Circo Loco closing in 2014 - since it was basically the last outbound flight that year from there, there was just four of us on the flight (Darius Syrossian being one!). Literally every other flight has been rowdy but I definitely think it's got worse in the last few years with people almost wanting to living up to the videos they have seen on social media of these being 'party flights'. Particularly bad one was a Friday evening flight from Gatwick which was delayed by a couple of hours (so more time for people to drink). There were three separate hen groups and a stag. Hens from different groups started fighting in the aisle and one girl fell and her knocked her tooth out on a seat! It sounds so comical looking back but it really is horrible being surrounded by that and fearing that they will do an emergency landing in France and causing more delays. Last time I flew from Gatwick it was at around 7am on a Thursday and I wrongly assumed it would be calm but no! People clearly stay up all night drinking. I swore I would never fly on a 'budget' airline from the UK to Ibiza (don't care about way home as people are subdued to say the least after their holiday lol) after that flight when the guy behind me threatened the air hostesses after she told him for a second time to put on his seatbelt for landing. Just such a horrible atmosphere and not the way I want to start my holiday. Really wish the airlines would take a tougher stance on these idiots.

Yeah I think you’re right about the social media hype. People see these videos and take influence from it. It normalises the behaviour of acting like an obnoxious c*nt.

It’s the cabin crew I feel for. They shouldn’t have to put up with these idiots day in day out.

Thing is, the cabin crew let them on in the first place. At the gate they check your passport and ticket, and won't let you through if it's wrong, so why not stop the clearly drunk onboard? After all it's a safety issue, you are in a small tube at 35,000' and if someone tries to open the door, smash a window etc the cabin crew are hardly equipped to stop them.

I get that banning or restricing alcohol hits those who are sensible, and it's a small minority spoiling it for the rest, but unless drunks are kept off planes then I can't see any other option.

On a train you can generally move to get away from annoying pax, but not on a plane.

Ticket, passport, and the breathalizer for those acting stupid at the gate? If holidaymakers don't want that then save the party till you get there?

The cheapest and fastest way for me to get to Ibiza is a direct, late evening flight from my local airport to Gatwick, and then taking the first flight the next morning to Ibiza.

However I will continue the longer and more expensive alternative via Germany. Sometimes in life, the Germans are the best.

The airline have his passport number so pass it on to them all and make sure he never flies again. One thing - it takes a while - where airport security not buzzed to get there quick and manhandle him away (a tazar could have come in handy...)?

England away most times there would be couple of coppers at the gate checking passports and questioning people.

Last game I did they started questioning an elderly Muslim couple in front of us, I piped up that they clearly aren’t going to watch football why are you hassling them. Policeman just looked confused and shrugged his shoulders.

Looking at Eurostars Ibiza on the front at Figuretas, never been in it but from above it looks like an outdoor rooftop pool (too cold in October!: but with a jacuzzi; and most rooms (those not overlooking the road) seem to have an inward view mainly of other rooms. Anyone been to give me an idea?

Also looking at Sud Ibiza suites (almost opposite, and really on the front) hoping to bag a sea-view room; and again don't fancy one overlooking the road though!

Flash British Airways Sale - E.g. Gatwick to IBZ from one-ways £50 (all tax) on Sat 14 June - day flight!

Saturdays in June seem very cheap!
Wonder if people are a bit worried about the, ahem, "atmosphere" on the plane? I certainly would think twice, but unfortunately my only trip outbound this year (so far) is on a Saturday. Afternoon. With easyjet. At least it's late September so we might be spared!!

Of course it could simply be that BA have seats to sell that they didn't expect!! Party time everyone, fill your boots!!

I think a little too much capacity early in June maybe?

On Sat 14 June BA have 8 London flights (3 City, 3 Gatwick, 2 Heathrow)

And up north we're screaming out for them - at least at a decent time of day!

Funny time of year June, not the school hols (many are doing exams, yes?) and a holiday in June for many means none in July/August (expense) and that's their one big holiday of the year gone, yet it's one where the weather is virtually guaranteed to be fine, hotels not as expensive as July/Aug, and those that can get away in June are usually retired old sods like me, where Ibiza isn't necessarily their destination.

In olden days mill towns like mine had defined week's (then two weeks) break where the whole town shut down and went away. My town's fortnight started the second lase Saturday in June, many were later, so a June main hol is natural to me.

be interesting to learn, now holidays are more flexible, disregarding expense, what two weeks would peeps on here take?

Seems to be some cheap flights with Jet2 at present, specifically Bristol, as checked what the flights we booked back in January were at present. Could have saved nearly half the price

It's the risk you take!

When booking you are taken to a seat plan to choose your seat. At that point you can see how full - or empty - the plane is. If it's nearly full, then I can't see how prices would go down, unless it's so late that they give away seats to fill them. Likewise if it's empty, are prices too high and they will come down?

And what if it's half-full? Someone out there will have an alogorithm (sp??) which works out the exact time to buy the cheapest air ticket. Clearly if the plane's nearly full, then it's prob best to book at whatever they want or risk losing the flight, but if fairly empty and the price is high, best to wait and try again?

Also thinking hotels must hate this "flexible" charging for flights, if there was a standard price and never higher or lower, I'm sure we'd book there and then, and book the hotel at the same time so the hotels know how many to expect?
