Chav Anthems

so as our ibiza clubs are indeed commercial - their avowed intent is to relieve their clientel of vast wads of cash - are they full of chavs?

yeah but this thread is about commercial music and although the music in ibicenco clubs could be described as commercial, in the sense that its part of a business and means to make money, the music is a far less widespread appeal (purely in terms of numnbers) than music in the charts.

as IG said...........somethin being commercial doesn't necessarily mean its chav but invariably chav anthems are always 'commercial/chart music'

but surely the worst record in the world has no widespread appeal. are you saying that widespread appeal is bad, and non-widespread appeal is good?

yours,

still confused of ibiza

its a balance really. i personally never get tired of Mojo - Lady no matter HOW many times I hear it, but its not a chav track. Another (quite ok) track is Ian Van Dahl "castles in the sky", it was really good in the beginning until it becam so mainstream u could hear it at kiddie parties and it was compiled on every single cheesy dance cd ever released that year....

its a balance. really.

of course not...........when talking purely in terms of music, which this thread is about, widespread appeal does not mean bad and non-widespread appeal is good.

but in trying to differentiate what a chav anthem is, it becomes important to point out that a typical chav anthem will be in the commercial charts or in bars/pubs/clubs (the type frequented by people who would feel totally out of place at pacha or space) across the UK. of course there will be other records in the charts that have widepsread appeal that are both good and are not a chav anthem (most types of rock/guitar music for example)

whoops. we appear to have killed this thread stone dead with our discussion on non-commercial non-widespread appeal.
so ladies and gentlemen as i am still keen to learn about c and non-c (a bit like u and non-u) could you post some more c anthems and perhaps for comparison, some non-c anthems (assuming that non chavs have anthems)

thanks

well shapeshifters lolas theme was a good tune and not chav but then half a year after it peaked, kinda went downhill from there. altho its still a pretty good choone....

OK, Stephen, I'll probably get slated for this. Unfortunately, I live in a town where musically it's predominately chavs choons, there's only about 10-15% house music played (mainly by me). Below is the definitive top chav choons in and around my area...........and yes, I play all of them! Mixed with commercial music and house. Well, I am a professional DJ and I gotta eat!!!
