Carl Cox says critical of Ibiza in EMC interview...

http://inthemix.junkee.com/9-things-we-learnt-at-day-one-of-emc-2015/135209

I genuinely want to reach out to people and see if they’re enjoying themselves,” he says of his trademark “Oh yes! Oh yes!” Of the impending end of his Space Residency, he says “All good things must come to an end,” and isn’t above dishing a little about the state of things in Ibiza. “In some ways the island has turned to shit,” he says, and teased its most well-publicised resident: “You’re never going to hear a six-hour set from Paris Hilton. It’s just not possible. For one thing she’d run out of foam.”

Hello there Spotlight forum, long long time lurker here but never posted much. I used to post on the Glastonbury forum for years but with the usual forum carry on (arguments etc) i just prefer to take back seat and make use of info and useful stuff people provide instead of getting involved all the time. On that note just wanna thank people on here who post and anything I’ve read here thats been handy oor the years and especially the main dude (Stivi?). During the summer months i basically spend each and every day looking on here & Glastonbury forum as Ibiza & Glastonbury are both my loves in life. My Dad lived in Ibiza for about 10 years when i was younger & this year will be my 8th Glastonbury so aye thats basically my story haha

To get back on topic here next year will be me n my mates 3rd Ibiza trip. We'll wish for years we done more (especially the early 2000’s) but we spent most our 20s doing the British festivals every summer. Obviously with the upcoming changes to Ibiza we’re maybe looking at it being our last time out there & what better time than Coxys closing. We’ve got everything already booked up and ready to roll minus the ticket. We had ourselves up this morning all ready to buy the early birds (getting Glastonbury tickets each year has us well drilled) 10am hits, straight on the closing date and instantly ‘SOLD OUT’. I couldn’t believe it. I still don’t believe that they even put any of the closing tickets out. Surely it wasn’t sold that quick??? Did anyone on here bag any for the closing? Ive got this closing built up in my head on some sorta level as say the Hacienda, or Paradise Garage. Is that what we’re gonna be dealing with here?? Will the general sale be mayhem & is there a chance tickets will be utterly outrageous prices over there in September is say we miss out??? Also are you guys (spotlight) gonna be getting to sell any of the Coxy tickets or is it all through ticket arena???

Totally sorry to have ranted on a bit here folks but didn’t wanna come in here asking so many questions without my story etc haha any help and thoughts from you people greatly appreciated, cheers, Taylor.

don't worry taylor, you'll definitely get your tickets for that night. right now, only safehouse are selling those tickets, neither space nor us at spotlight have started selling yet. but both us and space will be selling tickets and they won't sell out in glastonbury record time. I do think that night will sell out, but I don't expect this to happen very quickly. just stay tuned and you'll be fine; you can either keep checking on that page you tried (not sure if they only put a super small number of tickets on sale or if it was a tech issue), they will probably put more allotments on sale soon, or then buy from us or space once sale starts. I'm 100% convinced you'll get your tix.

Phewww obviously coming from you mate i feel a lot more reassured with it now haha as i said i do look on the forums during the summer months an obsessively silly amount and know you absolutely know yer stuff and yeah greatful for anything i’ve read here. You saying about it maybe taking time to sell out, is that because most people don’t pin down what they’re doing next summer till maybe Feb/March so that will give plenty ticket buying time to those that do know what they’re doing?

If safehouse or Space obviously put the tickets up in the near future (before you guys) then of course we’ll get as soon as we can but if not then buying on here is probably the even safer bet and it would only be right saying as i do come on here often.

Cheers for yer response so fast Stivi and i’ll probably be posting round here more often now I’ve broke the ice haha. Dunno why i haven’t before because it is a proper sound forum with proper sound folks.

Just also dawned on me just now technically it wont the last time Coxy plays Space cause there's the actual proper closing to take into account. Now good luck to anyone for that one that will be complete carnage haha

yes. that and the fact still lots of people only buy once they're on the island. you can't compare it to a festival where you HAVE to buy in pre-sale.

Yeah that makes sense. Still finding it a bit strange that the closing was sold out instantly at 10am yet even now all the other 14 parties still have tickets on the go in the pre sale links. Did they actually put any out for the closing or because they know demand for that one will be huge they kept all back for general sale to be fair for folk or something.

Taylor, welcome.

Not trying to be a killjoy, but.......

The Carl Cox parties can get very very busy, to the point where its uncomfortable, particularly when Coxy comes on in the main room about 3.30am. Choose your nights very carefully or it may be a massive anti climax for you. I would be trying a very early season (June) night if it were me.

diver has a point there. that said though...if you're aware of the situation, you'll cope much more easily with it. it's true it's normally absolutely choc-a-bloc when coxy comes on, but often after about an hour of complete mayhem things start to get better again.

Thanks for the advice Diver & Stiv that is totally the only problem. We're well expecting to be going into one of the busiest things on earth at that time haha. We did Coxys night in 2010 & last year made the night he was on the sunset terrace (not sure how cause we didn't get back to our hotel from Cocoon till lunchtime Tuesday haha) but we're preparing BIG time for el sardine city. We're not just going for Coxy's night of course gonna throw in the other stomps in the week (DC10 on Monday, then Cocoon etc) and if things are the same pattern Paradise Closing will be Wednesday but who knows when we'll finish the Coxy madness & if we'll have the tolerance for that ramfest.

After doing a fair few Coxy Closings and a mid season last year thought I would bow out with a Coxy opening next year.

Do we think Carl will do another of his 8-10 hour sets as part of the opening.

What are people's thoughts?

Panic? what panic. Tickets purchased for closing with ease yesterday, its gonna be emotional stuff and i shall be on the main floor till Guardia civil drag us out. I keep asking myself how the hell will Carl end it? Like his last tune? Wonder if its something he's having to think about now  whatever happens its gonna be something to tell the grand kids about thats for sure.
