Can anyone remember what they got for xmas?

no, but again you did the right thing, better you in london a year late, than in london now, wracked with guilt, parents up shit creek!!!
Oh, I'm not saying I wish I hadn't done it. I think there comes a time in life where you have to take care of the 'rents, especially if they took good care of you. I had a great middle-class upbringing, when to a great university (in the US, that's expensive!)... a charmed life, really. So you've got to give back.

It's just the timing that sucked! Taking care of them a little earlier than I expected...

Ya, but Moscow wil freeze over again soon

Back on topic, I've given up on Xmas presents as a source of excitement. The things I really want are usually too expensive (i.e. electronic toys) and since my 3 main constituencies (parents, brother&wife, wife) all want to give something independently rather than pool their resources, I'm basically stuck getting something pratical (oh, thanks, more white t-shirts. I needed some of those!)

The worst part is gifts from the missus. She always asks me what I want, but since I know all the money came from me anyway, it makes no sense to me why she should bother! I could go to the store myself!
