pinched this idea from the spanish forum (mikkak's idea i think)

So what are you reading/can you recommend at the moment??:

- The shadow of the wind (La Sombra del Viento) by Carlos Ruiz Zafón
this is easily the best work of fiction I've ever read. Its brilliant old fashioned, heart wrenching story telling at its best and set in Barcelona as well:D

- Dust to Dust by Tami Hoag
US cop thriller type, read better by her:?

- Angels and Demons by Dan Brown
reading it out of sequence as I've already read Da Vinci Code. Totally unrealistic and make believe fiction but thrilling and an excellent read none the less

Books en español:
- El coronel no tiene quien le escriba by Gabriel García Márquez

I've just read the entire Harry Potter collection up to JK Rowlings latest book (no6)

I wanted some light easy reading, so I read the first, then it felt wrong not to read the rest!! ;)

Now I'm reading something slightly more grown up - About a Boy by Nick Formby.

Ooh I've read some really good books in the last couple of weeks, I was just thinking the other day of starting a Spotlight book group

Ben Elton - The First Casualty (yet again Ben Elton never ceases to surprise me, every single one of his books is about such different subjects but always delivers the goods, his latest is set in WW1 and is all about what constitutes murder/justice and in what context, some of the descriptions of war are quite horrific but I thought it was an excellent read).

Augusten Burrows - Dry (about a gay bloke dealing with his addictions, a really good read, sad in places but also with a really dark sense of humour as he tries to make light of the situation and deny his addictions).

James Frey - A Million Little Pieces (as my earlier thread on the topic  )

And about half way thru John Peels autobiography - Margrave of the Marshes which I'm loving so far, it's written in just the way Peely RIP used to talk.

I also tried to read Caroline Knapp - Drinking: A Love Story on the plane to Barcelona but I just couldn't get into it, seemed like your usual American with 'issues'/needs therapy self-indulgent whingings but I'm going to try and give it another go cos maybe I just wasn't in that kind of mood to read it at the time.

Currently reading "Canal Dreams", by Iain Banks. Love his stuff.

Next in line will be Ian McEwan's latest, "Saturday".

It's more like Childrens fantasy genre. If you ever believed in magic as a child it's a brilliant read.

I read all of them, the sixth is not still on spanish or catalan, so I read five.
I enjoyed them but they are too long (is it that the expression for a book with lots of pages???),

I've read all the Harry Potters Bec and been thoroughly entertained by them. Although the latest wasn't very satisfying as it was just setting you up for the final installment...

He is the very best! :D :D

The last book I read is The dogs Bark from Truman Capote, author wich I love.
Now I am reading My family and other animals from Gerald Durrell. Lately I had discovered another detective stories author, Simon Shaw, the booked wich whom I was introduced is called Killing Grace. I really liked it.
I also think that Gabriel Garcia Marquez is very good, Cien años de Soledad is fantastic and makes me think of Silvia because of "apartense vacas q la vida es corta". Following Silvia's recomendation I read "Memorias de mis putas tristes " wich is really nice and is not a long read.

Reading

Mo Haydner - Tokyo

just finished
Jeffrey Deaver (love his books) the twelfth card (lincoln Rhyme series)
Patricia Cornwall - Predator (really disappointed in this book - nothing like her other Kay Scarpetta books)
Harlen Coben - The innocent - this guys is well worth reading

ready to read Tess Gerritsen - Gravity!!

I love Christmas for all the books you get off Santa

I've just started the shadow of the wind, just finished angels and demons (v.good, typical dan brown rubbish lol) and halfway through Henning Menkels 'return of the dancing master' which is a good crime thriller so far. I always end up reading several books at a time
