STYLE CLUB & NIGHTLIFE
CIPRIANI PRESENTS “BOMBA IBIZA”
09. April 2013 | 23:51
There's a new player in the night scene: Bomba Ibiza, the new club in town Cipriani's style.

BOMBA IBIZA entrance

This summer awaits many unexpected changes and one of them is Bomba Ibiza, a new club created by Cipriani and located just in front of the restaurant Downtown Ibiza. Giuseppe Cipriani confirmed that it will open its doors on May 22nd and specified that “it will be a club with music for dancing, to have a good time after diner… there will be Djs… there will also be some pleasures for the eye”. However, he did not confirm what goes around, you know, what they say about Luciano spinning at Bomba.

We can't wait to visit a club with the Cipriani stamp: exquisite treatment to all its customers. But more delightful still is to hear Giuseppe Cipriani say “there will be an evening dedicated to the people of Ibiza, the ones that live and work here, with free passes, or especial prices, to give back some of what we are receiving from the island.” Bomba, the new purpose-built, Cipriani-backed club with the first ever custom made Pioneer Sound System.

Bomba is the island's newest hi spec club, brought to you by Giuseppe Cipriani of the world-renowned Cipriani hospitality group, who has partnered with Danny Whittle and Mark Netto, two of Ibiza's best-known club industrialists and the former programming directors at Pacha.

Between them they have a rich history in service and the perfect insight and experience to launch a club specifically designed to incorporate the island's diverse clientele, from cosmopolitan Europeans to the musically diverse British clubber.

"I have always loved the night life, there is something magic in seeing the end of a day and the beginning of a new one, it is a stress-free zone, it is all about the music, service, fun and more music", says Giuseppe Cipriani.

With final work being carried out at the venue, Bomba Ibiza is close to completion and will launch during the peak week of the International Music Summit from the 22nd May.

The club will launch with some of the island's key nights including Luciano and his Vagabundos, Defected Records and Erick Morillo, with other serious residencies waiting to be announced. From the offset Bomba Ibiza will set the standard with tried and tested club brands and nights that have a strong history and huge followings on the island.

Bomba is also aware that every serious venue is only as good as the sound quality it delivers. As a world first, Bomba Ibiza will have a bespoke, custom built sound system designed exclusively for them by Pioneer, engineered through a meticulous development process by dance music's most innovative professional audio company.

The positioning of Bomba is paramount and Bomba Ibiza aims directly at the informed clubber on the island. With emphasis on the fact that this is not a VIP club, of its full capacity around 30% of it will be given over to tables. Bomba Ibiza will be a club built from the dance floor up.

The core values of Bomba Ibiza will mirror those of the Cipriani group where the ultimate emphasis is on service and high standards. This is one of the first times a venue has been specially designed and purpose built to encompass sound, style and quality, and yet to represent a true dance music venue in ibiza.

How good is that when you get the owner, explaining how the club is set up, I'm quite sure he is busy too. If I'm honest I'm going to give it ago, this might be the club we have all been waiting for...! Thanks Danny

I enjoyed the new layout in Pacha last year and it improved my experience some what, I might even try out this VIP thing myself as I wouldn't mind trying out a club without the over crowding.... Might try it this year and I am a VIP just choose not to use those areas as it can be a bit shallow. Mmm we shall see.
loving it!

Even allowing for its location near Marina Botafoch, Ibiza Gran and all that signifies, I'm unsure of 25% VIP with a club capacity of just over 900. Impossible to tell from a plan - but it's odd having seated VIP 'enclaves' on the Amnesia balcony even though "non-bottle service VIPs" can use areas behind the velvet ropes leading round etc. for example. Depends on the atmosphere and crowd as to whether you can get away with it working in a more intimate 'mixed' space. "Us and them" is in some ways more inclusive overall laid out this way, but depending on how well the 'flows' work and whether the rest of the club is crowded this can lead to resentful feelings that so much space is taken over by VIP, whether or not this would in the alternative simply be replaced by more 'heads' rather than more dancefloor / chillout space. The outside parts look good.

Given where the club has parked its flagpole in terms of style (and Cipriani involvement), it would need to cater for VIP tables etc. at least to the extent it has and therefore looks so far along the lines you'd expect. The revenue/head from VIP areas is presumably needed to fund the DJ lineups in a club with such a small capacity (?) [Danny will no doubt point out if my between-lines reading specs need their lenses adjusting ;)] - so probably looks about right for the likely target crowd.

Be interested to see what the other nights are to be. I wasn't tempted by the three announced so far in any other venue so at the moment nothing there for me, but there should be a good demand for those nights. Opening up any new venue is a challenge and involves a great deal of work.

Having grown bored of seeing bottle service crowds in clubs behind velvet ropes (am a dingy Warehouse party / Berghain type at heart clubbing-wise), I'd be lying if I said I was looking for 'service' in a nightclub. Plan Be excited me, but that was not to be !! However, regardless of whether a place serves up your style or not the effort involved to get things off the ground and launched is a considerable challenge that deserves due recognition ... even with some established nights to underpin things, and for those who are after the Bomba 'cocktail' they now have somewhere new to enjoy themselves.

So watching with interest as to how this new addition to the Ibiza Town scene pans out. The reduced rates night for island residents will also help quell domestic opposition and resentment - a tried and tested formula for a launch phase. I think it will attract some considerable support and approval.

Well said Kimajy, that's what I was trying to say tbh. The VIP Question lingers on and on, but I still say done the correct way it's ok... The correct way is how Space do it in my book, the incorrect way is how Pacha do it, well saying that the VIP above the dance floor works in my book IE level 2 in Pacha but that massive area on the main floor is a joke... I will put more in the Pacha thread of some stuff that happened last year.

We meeting up at some point this year? i'm on the same number bro?
Take care see you in Ibiza.....

Kimajy: Luciano was quality in Pacha last year on Sunday, better than We Love! Only bad bit was the cramming in Pacha as per normal. Another thing is the VIP Brings in more Hot Clundge as then they make more of an effort! I'm just saying..... I asked many sorts over 25 and they like getting done up and looking hot in a club that caters for it. Just a thought.

This should be interesting and now with Yousef Zaher's Circus announced for every Thursday I know where I'll be spending a lot of time this summer.

This club just gets better....

Personally the Subliminal night is the least fave of mine to attend but definately interested in the Luciano, Defected and Circus nights.

Fingers crossed Tongy takes one of the nights as he will pull in some great guests.... :)

Just to add my 2 cents

From the floor plan, it doesn't look like there's much difference in floor space from what there was at Penelope (last time I was in that building) and that didn't get overcrowded when I was there for the grand opening. Granted, these nights that have been announced are a bit more of a draw than Monza so the jury is still out, but I wouldn't worry about that smattering of tables.

This is how it looked

Yep. There was that raised table area up on the right side and then also where the photographer is standing, pretty much like the floor plan.
