Bill Gates - the modern day Robin Hood?

He is giving loads of money cos he is doing loads of money by not being the most ethic businessman in the world :?

And I don't think your philantropic actions (even if you give away a fortune) should be public and used to clean your personal image :?

Didn't you see that documentary explaining how he plans to give most of his fortune away to charities and other good causes over a period of time, leaving sufficient funds to provide his family with a good life.

I'm sure the sceptics will have something to say about this though.

mmmmm

:D didnt see it drew..excellent idea though....i believe he is worth something like 158 billion on paper though!.seriously i believe we were all given talents, bills was inventing computers.this changed the world.i only wish more bilionaires/millionaires like him would give up some of there vast wealth to help the less fortunate.if i was handed 10 billion tommorow.id give it all away, keeping maybe a small percentage to live on.excess money in the wrong hands....allways brings grief...and happiness can never be bought.the world we live in is full of greedy people....what makes it really sad.is a lot of these billionaires/millionaires are in there twilight years.....and they still wont part with there hard earned cash!.i can just hear the man at the pearly gates....i gave you the talent!....and what did you do for others.......................................buggerall! 8O cheers mo

What are your opinions based on though Silvia?

Things you read in the media?

None of us know all the ins and outs of Bill Gates and Microsoft and therefore shouldn't make judgements.

Shouldn't he receive some praise for making the electronic age what it is today and providing jobs for hundreds of thousands of people?

As I said before it's my personal opinion, you can agree or not but, you can't point at me and call me sceptic or drop the "poor fella bla bla bla" message cos I have a different opinion than you.

I don't think he started the electronic age, IMO it was steve jobs and co. And windows it's too similar to Mac Os to be that new and if it's all around the world is becase your Gates is not an ethic businessman and for me it counts a lot.
And as I said before, IN MY OPINION

I'm not interested in discuss anything with you, you just can't accept different opinions and so debates are useless with you.

And yes, the one who was sacked and the one who, back to his company raised it to the top again

Fine.

Your opinion is obviously very strong on this issue, so i'll try not to antagonise you anymore.

Anyhow, despite anyone's opinion, good on Bill for doing something good!

Giving to the less fortunate is the cool celebrity thing to do in 2005 it seems. Maybe he should release a charity single.

LOL.

Sorry, not one to dispell an opinion, but the documentary i saw was probably 2/3 years ago where he announced his plans to offload his fortunes.

ehhhhhh

 ehhh giving to the poor in 2005!.....in all reality my dear chap....most of them dont do it out of genorosity....its done to gain max publicity....and no doubt something to do with tax breaks!. 8O

Bill Gates has been giving vast amounts of his money away for years. The attitude to philanthropy in the US is very interesting because it differs considerably to the UK. People with lots of money are seen as having a responsibility to use it responsibly and for the good of others.

I agree some of his business practices may be a little dubious, there is no doubt that there are great numbers of people who have benifited through his contributions to things such as aids research and prevention and improvements in child health in Africa.

That makes sense.

If i won the lottery i'd certainly be out to do some good with it.

ehhhhh
