Jockey is back in business!
After a not-so-chilly winter here in Ibiza, there are already eager people sunbathing on Salinas, which must mean it's about time for Jockey Club to reopen! In fact, we're just a week away from the big day, Friday March 30 – just in time for the Easter holidays.
We love the beginning of every new season, as we are one of only two restaurants open on the beach and there's so much virgin space to be enjoyed. Ah, the tranquility of Salinas in springtime. It's so easy to visit us too – parking is free for the entire month of April!
Although the Jockey doors have been closed, we've actually been working hard behind the scenes to bring you new changes for 2012. We've got a new wooden roof, a new fruit bar, plus a new stone floor and walls and for you, our faithful Jockey customers, we've got a new CD: Jockey Club Sessions 9, available mid-May.
CD 1 is mixed by Mallorca-born, Ibiza-based Kiko Navarro, representing the luxury side of lounge and organic music, the true spirit of Ibiza. Meanwhile, CD 2 is the masterpiece of Jockey Club resident DJ Lorenzo Al Dino; a house mix described as no less than epic, with the goal to create a view into the minds, hearts and souls of creative artists from around the globe.
Of course, all work and no play would make Jockey very dull indeed, which is why owner Oliver Lanzoni and the Jockey directors have just returned from a three-day visit to some of the finest Spanish wineries: first to Rioja, visiting Luis Cañas and Muga then to Ribera del Duero to see Dominio de Cair. They call it research…
Yes, it seems 2012 is starting out very well indeed…
