You've had Hair Dilemma, Car Dilemma.... now it's Bank Dilemma!!
Basically, I realised a couple of months ago that there was an account charge going out of my bank each month. I'd never realised before that I was paying it simply to have an ungraded account - one that has added benefits of house insurance, AA cover, mobile insurance etc. Now to my knowledge I've NEVER asked for this upgrade... for one, I am already covered on my own AA insurance, I dont own a house, and Ive never had mobile insurance - so why would I have asked for this type of account?
Anyway, I called Lloyds and asked why was I on this account, and how long had I been paying it, and could they downgrade my account to the normal free one! They've now downgraded it, but apparantly I've been paying this account charge for three and a half years!!!!
I can't believe I've never noticed it before! D'oh!
I spoke to my friend about it who is a bank manager, and she told me to ask Lloyds for proof I've requested this account, and if they cant prove it, to offer me a full refund (in all it should be about £300). Anyway, Ive since done this and Lloyds rang me yesterday to say they'd offer me a £100 courtesy payment to drop the case.
What does everyone think I should do? I could take it and drop the query, or I could carry on and get all the money I've paid back. The thing is, because Ive been paying it for so long I dont want them to say Im not getting any of it back because its been such a long time since the account was changed? But then part of me thinks, well the obviously cant prove Ive asked for the upgrade so I should push for all of it!
Confused
