Atkins

Atkins is quite complicated to do properly.

Have you read the book?

If you're wanting to go down the Atkins type route, i'd suggest buying 'The Zone' diet which is similar but much easier to follow and not as severe.

That sounds similar to the South Beach diet which gradually introduces carbs after an initial 2 week ban

get ready for smelly breath though!!

Hmmm, Joeys done it before.

I know about what to eat and not what to eat, i just think that with going to the gym i'll need the carbs.

if you go to the gym and do the atkins then go when it's empty, as when you sweat, the entire gym will smell of dog-food!!! :x

But why do people say Atkins is low carbs?

It isn't 8O Only for the first 2 weeks, then it's normal carbs all the way, but not from starchy sources that's all i.e. bread/pot's/rice/pasta.

ATKINS IS NOT A LOW CARB DIET :!:

Sorry to shout Mambs ;)

P.S. Has anyone on here actuall read the book?

That'll be why Joey is cutting out carbs altogether for 2 weeks! Our fridge and freezer is full of meat! 8O

So you cant even eat good carbs like brown rice after the 2 weeks?

Brown rice is ok.

Main carb source on Atkins is from Porridge, oats, 'brown rice' but also from high volumes of fruit and veg.

Apples are a great source of carbs, but banana's for instance have a VERY high carb content so go easy on the nana's ;)

im a very fragrant man actually, I was concurring the phenomenon tha people on the atkins, do emit a strange odour, both orally and through perspiration!! I never have or never will try a faddy diet, you cant beat a balanced diet of meat, fresh fruit, veg, rice, pasta etc and plenty of excersise!!! Look at it another way, if you had a ferrari, would you fill it with lighter fluid??? ;)

I always have a nana before to go to the gym :D

I know fruits a no no because of the sugar content. Is small amounts of spinach, brocoli, cauliflower ok?

Who needs to read the book when ive got you here!

personally I think the Atkins is bad news - how can a 'good' diet tell you to quit the carbs?!
I know people who did it and experienced the bad breath, tiredness, leg cramps..... how can a diet that does that be good for you?
I have always believed in the simple equation of healthy eating + lots of exercise!

I'm with you, an equilibrate healthy diet + exercise it's the best to feel fit and keep those kgs in line. And once you are done to that healthy diet you don't have the horrible diet streess ;)

"look at me i've lost 12lbs"

"ok so my breath stinks of poo, my skin is grey, my nails are broken, my hair is falling out and i aint had a no2 for a week...but hey, who cares??!

I agree staycool, any"diet" that cuts food like fruit is ridiculous in my opinion.

I know somepeople who tried Atkind, south beach etc etc etc... and yeah they DID lose weight, but none of them were the type of people who had healthy lifestyles and 6 months later they were back to their regular self.

Healthy food plus excercise..thats it
