Yeah okay, the Spanish did bring death and devastation to "the other side of the world", but it has happened since the beginning of time. Furthermore, I'm sure the native americans. (Who probably came from Asia over the Bering Straits) brought death and devastation to the people who were there before them. And so on and so forth. In the animal kingdom (which we are a part of however "intelligent" or "civilised" we assume upon ourselves) this is instrinsic with the spread of life.
Anyway, I come from Scotland and the only thing we ever colonised was the park benches of London. I don't subscribe to revisionist critiques of colonialism because there's not much we can do about it now.

Sorry, I don't want to be offensive, but do any of you take seriously a page in tripod called armageddononline?
It doesn't seem to have any scientific reference supporting that
In that case just google "canary islands landslide" and pick any one of the other many sites.

The comedian George Carlin used to do a great routine about that. He mocked the environmentalists running around screaming "save the planet". What they should be saying is "save the humans!" because when we've made the place so unliveable that we die off, the the Earth will renew itself and new species will aris and everything will be just fine without usjeembo said:Do you really think us humans are so significant that we will kill off the planet we live on? Mother nature will ensure we are wiped out long before that ever happens. Maybe we'll destroy our planet in a way that makes us unable to survive, but then that will create conditions where other life can survive.
I don't know... I used to watch his specials on HBO sometimes.jeembo said:Never heard of him by name. Prob seen him. (George Carlin)
