im from california, just wondering if there are lots of americans or california people going this august...its my first time, i cant wait

When are you headed? I will be there from August 11 - August 18th. I'm American, but I'm not to worry about that. I think English is spoken by a good number of people visiting the island.

I wouldn't say there are a lot of Americans, compared to the numbers of various European nationalities. But the number is definitely rising. I've noticed an increasing US presence on this forum this year, mostly people getting ready to go to the island.

Nevertheless, the great thing about Ibiza is mixing with people from all over. Nearly everyone speaks English. You'll have a lot more fun if you don't limit yourself. And the type of people who come to the island are generally pretty open so as long as you're cool then you'll make friends easily.

(FYI, I'm American living abroad)

oh no dont get me wrong, im not saying it cuz of the english, i already know most people speak english and i speak some spanish myself. I actually prefer a mix crowd, thats how major cities in US are anyways, mixed races.

I was just wondering, it would be cool to meet some americans there, especially if they're from LA...most americans arent very knowledgable when it comes to anything outside of america, yes even if their parents are foreigners, its just the way society is here....but americans that do travel and go to europe are usually more open minded, social and knowledgable. So thats why im saying it would be interesting to meet some.

I will be going alone and it's my first time also. I'm the only one from my group of friends whose into EDM, and they really don't have any motivation of stepping outside the US. Their loss. But I'm been speaking with a few people on this board and made plans to meet up on the island.

official statistics for ibiza giving visitors by nationality don't drill down as far as the usa - they only go as far as america which means north and south ie from alaska to cape horn.

the most 'americans' appear to be here in august when 4 in every 1000 visitors is from that continent. from october to may it is more or less zero per 1000.

no idea how many are from cali

for arrivals in august, (people who booked their hotel through our site), US comes 4th after GB, ES and AU (Australia!) - so you will definitely find quite a few americans who visit this site and stay in places like playa den bossa, ibiza town and san an :)

Surprised at Australia being so high. I can only ever recall speaking to one girl from Australia in all our trips.

edit.

doh, we have always been in September, perhaps makes all the difference?

here are the official tourist figures with the percentages of visitors for last year.

Spanish 25,0
German 21,2
British 29,0
Swiss 0,9
French 2,4
Italian 11,2
Benelux 4,4
Irish 0,3
Austrian 0,6
Nordic 0,3
Eastern Europe 1,1
Portuguese 0,5
American 0,8
Other 2,2

12 years now i have been going to playa den bossa. as my basecamp.for which not sure why most Americans stay.in that time i only really see a lot when the clubs open and close.alot just pop over for a few days via the uk.or from other routes with begin in the forces.

thing its a case of. been there. seen that. done it.hence i never see them twice..

How many days holiday (typically) do Americans get per annum (excluding bank holidays or their equivalent)?
Unless you're high up the food chain or you've got a really good labor union, most people only get about 2 weeks :!:
(**remembers one of the reasons why I'm living in Europe**)

ya man US vacations are so wack :( u have to wait forever to save up some time to go anywhere...most i could get is 2 weeks so i had to pack 4 different places....i so wish i could take atleast 3-4 weeks per year, but even then most jobs dont like it when ur gone more than a week so even gone 2 weeks is a big deal to some

that sux man but i know exactly how u feel, i've been planning this euro trip for over a year, i've been telling all my friends, sending emails, info, even cost break down and hardly any of them were down, finally only one friend commited couple of months ago and we made plans. Like u said most americans dont even think about stepping outside US, unless if its close like mexico or canada
