Some pragmatic thoughts..

Sky news are talking 'Nightmare scenario' but realistically its far from it. London has always been on the terrorists hit list, even from the IRA days. It was never a question of IF, but when and how.

Six bombs(if thats how many it is) on buses and trains is not a nightmare scenario. It's a horrific terrorist attack on innocent lives but in all honesty could have been much much worse.

For example, they could have used delayed detonation to wipe out the emergency services coming to rescue, attacked hospitals, power and gas installations at the same time to deny treatment to the injured or any number of permutations.

It had a degree of co-ordination, but not as much as the media is making out. All it really needs is six guys to leave six packages in a bus or train within a few mintues of each other and there you go.

People will compare this as Britains 9/11, but for any who remember the IRA attacks in the 70's,80's,90's there were much much worse.

The loss of life is tragic, and nothing can mitigate that.

Looking at the footage on the TV and net, Its good to see how well the emergency services are doing to get things back into order...

blair has just made his speech but nothing to add to the facts other than he is making a trip back to london to coordinate with the emergency services. He will return to the g8 later this evening to continue.

I agree with n8, as horrific as this is, it could of been much worse. *SO FAR* its a piss in the ocean compared to 9/11. We knew this attack was inevitable but unless more is planned, this is fairly tame to what could have easily been coordinated. Thats not to say its not a major incident, I'm most of the regs have come on here to say their ok. My heart goes out to those affected by this attack. :(
