The Hoteliers Federation has expressed its concern about the new laws being brought in by the San José Town Hall which would effectively allow beach clubs to play music from 10.00 o"clock in the morning until 3.00 o"clock the following morning, virtually converting them into open air discotheques, claiming that this would be detrimental to other tourists who prefer a peaceful holiday. Although the law will allow music to be played in the open air only from 4.00 o"clock in the afternoon until midnight, the Federation believes that allowing them to open for seventeen hours a day would result in their clientele taking over and effectively banishing other holidaymakers. The Federation also claimed that the sound systems should have a noise limiter incorporated, so that local residents are not kept awake all night, and that the Local Police should have the authority to act immediately if they become aware that an establishment is acting illegally. The Federation did agree that it is impossible to compartmentalize tourists into night owls and others, but that every effort should be made to ensure that they are able to co-exist harmoniously.

those crazy lawyers ...

Special permissions are granted for Opening and Closing events. Ushuaia goes on past midnight for its opening.
I understand that, but don't understand quite why one day is yes and the rest no until the end of the season? Stupid.

Would hazard a guess that the system that governs this opperates in a similar fashion to T.E.N. events under UK licensing laws.

piss the residents off all summer or just a few days...
I do understand why residents would get annoyed at times but to be fair the majority of people sleep during the night and are up in the day so would make more sense to have more party music in the day :) And for al the boom boom surely places like amnesia or priv cant be heard that far away if they can play music until 8am but not in the day as it is disturbing? Doesn't make any sense to me

you guys would be surprised about how far you can hear the clubs.

dc10, depending on the wind direction, is heard until the heart of san jordi. so is ushuaïa.
amnesia and privilege can be heard in san rafael no problem.

also, always consider that, when you're on holiday here and if you're a clubber, you mostly go to sleep only when it gets bright anyway. and that's when the music stops. but people living close-ish to the venues have normal jobs and get up at 7 in the morning as you do back at home.

Weird as I can barely hear the music outside of the clubs at all even at space  Maybe being around it all the time I would guess it would be heard more as you get used to it.
I just don't understand why if the music can be on until 7am when folk get up for work and they are supposed to be sleeping it can't be on in the day time to when it wouldn't be disturbing a lot of normal peoples sleeping pattern. Lots of places around the world still seem to enjoy parties in the day time while Ibiza is heading the complete opposite.

space's soundproofing is much better than most of the other venues ollie.

well, i'm all in favour of daytime clubbing! just not sure it comes back the way we used to have it before 2008.

Sometimes I miss the pre-2008 days.

I remember the water parties at Tahiti just by Bora Bora, where people were dancing in the early afternoon under water and foam and were coming back to Bora Bora full of foam. I think it was on saturday afternoon? Was always fun!

The Space at that time was running nearly 24 / 24... just stopping a couple of hours to change the stages in decors ;-)

But daytime also often meant after parties with people that went out all night taking all sort of drugs, taking a car to go to Space, again taking drugs and then going back by driving their car, kinda dangerous... I remember seeing some horrible faces on the old Space terrace during afters like In Bed with Space.

So I'm sure the road are now safer in the morning/early afternoon.

Ibiza is always evolving... afters stopped but now we see more boat parties and beach clubs... soon they will regulate boat parties so there will be something new coming out...

Also lots of vodka drinkies ... there are a lot of roadblocks round there now with Guardia testing drivers. Playa d'en Bossa road from Space towards Bora Bora and even the other one back to the highway the other side to the road to Nassau, at any time occasionally but especially round closing parties and sometimes in June also. Also the roundabout by Privilege (less so but also sometimes the turn-off to Amnesia) and the road from Eden out towards the Bay earlier in the Season. Last year there was a big risk of being stopped in peak hours of going to clubs (midnight to 2.30am) or coming out of them at 5-6am by car.
