Ibiza’s DC10 announces its return!
Created On September 15th, 2009 by daverh

Like hungry baby birds sitting in a nest, we’ve been impatiently waiting for any news
on the rumoured re-opening of Ibiza’s classic party-spot DC10,
which you might remember was closed down and slapped with a nasty fine
due to some sketchy license dramas.

Well, at last our prayers have been (kind of) answered,
as infamous DC10 club night Circoloco announced this week
that they are to hold a one off party at DC10 next month,
on Tuesday October 6th.

“Now is official Circo Loco@DC10 Ibiza, Tuesday morning 6th October 2009 h12:00”,”
the hugely popular Ibiza minimal/ tech party promoters announced.
“See you on the terrace!!”

The unexpected return of DC10 in 2009 follows several years of protracted legal
problems over licensing issues which saw DC10 fined hundreds of thousands of Euros
and ordered to stay closed for the latest summer season.

The new October date comes ten days after Space’s closing party at a time
when most of the island’s hotels, shops, bars and restaurants
are shuttered for the winter.

While this Circoloco re-launch of DC10 is for now a one-off thing
for the beleaguered Ibiza club, we’ve got high hopes that we’ll see a full rebirth
of DC10 in time for next year’s Northern summer.
Fingers crossed.

Laugh at me if u want but Andrea Pelino just posted this on....you guess it....
circoloco ibiza:
6 oct 09 dc10 ibiza h.12:00
7 oct 09 beach(secret location) ibiza h.12:00

I just saw around some forum that people are talking about dc10 opening with no idea what the licensing issues are about.

Some of them are writing that t...he police will close the club during the day.

And after all that we went through to reopen it I can guarantee this is not true in any kind of way and we are tired to read this kind of news from people that no have nothing to do with us.

I take the responsability to garantee this party 100% safe like the classic
dc10 closing in the past have allways been.

change the story one more time....don't stay at home!

Apparently , the whole party will be held legally and regularly. It won't be in DC 10 but in the open air parking behind the venue. Dc 10 got a special permission from local authorities to throw a special event in this wide open air area !

So all is fine. ;-) . Circoloco will be there and won't be closed by local autorities

from the ibiza sun:

Permit Problems
Last week the Island Council announced that it would be difficult for DC-10 to obtain the necessary licenses to re-open. The club was shut down last year after a two-year battle with the authorities for exceeding their legal capacity, and has not opened during the 2009 season.
The owners have tried over the last two years to obtain licenses which would see several extensions to the club made legal, something which is proving difficult. According to the Town Hall the club has a license for the main building and a covered terrace, but all the additions which have been made over the years, have been carried out without the necessary permits.
Island Councillor Miquel Ramon insisted last week that the decision had not yet been made, and that his administration had asked the owners of the club for more information. However, he said the mere fact the building stood within an area classified as rustic, and so close to the ses Salinas natural park, made it difficult for a license to be granted.
The club was closed back in October 2008 after the Town Hall of San Jose decided the establishment would have to comply with the latest in a long line of sanctions it had received. Unfortunately, the last was a €300,000 fine and closure for one year. This followed a brief closure at the beginning of the year.
The entire list of judicial decisions revolved around the 65 person capacity the club has, a number which is exceeded every time it opens. The issuing of a license was the only realistic hope of the club ever opening again, something which is now looking ever less likely.
Meanwhile, the Town Hall rejected a proposal on Thursday to allow clubs to open longer hours. They are currently able to open for 14 hours, while music venues are allowed two hours more. However, the option has been thrown out, with Councillor Paquita Ribas claiming legislation across the island was now in place which has been agreed by all of the Town Halls, and now would not be the right time to break this consensus.
