http://www.kokorico.be beats technic wise every disco in Ibiza

http://www.fuse.be One of the best techno clubs in the world according to Dave Clarck (in April: RICARDO VILLALOBOS - TOBI NEUMANN; JEFF MILLS - The Bells 10th anniversary tour - FRED NASEN; min2MAX tour: RICHIE HAWTIN - MAGDA - HEARTTHROB live) May (BOB SINCLAR , LOCO DICE)

http://www.larocca.be Probably one of the strangest clubs; Sunday is the best night. Armin van Buuren begged the owner to play there and it is a house disco to start with! He played an amazing set combining electro house and trance.

Zillion (RIP): beats every disco I have ever been in (except for space closing, let call it a tie) and the place closed down in 2001(?). That disco is/ was way ahead in the time. They had a swimmingpool, an elevated dance-platform in the middle going up and down, a zero gravity dance floor, which dropped 10 cm at a peak moment, giving you a feeling like you fly, they had a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge scanwall, the most crazy rotating light structure, operated by 2 professionals, a few robots, a enough pyro technics to blow up a small city (which was why they closed). A few huuuuuge fans. The owner now is the guy behin dthe amazing laser shows at all the id&T events where they have about a zillion lasers.

Some vids of how a disco should look like to be in the top 50

Belgium is notorious for it's clubs (in the past) and for building stages: Barco, ... and lets not forget that we have the best festival in the world :D

The list looks heavily weighted to western Europe in general and the UK specifically.

Not that these aren't the best venues (haven't been to most of them) but I've seen better clubs than some of those listed (in terms of atmosphere, design) in E. Europe and even the US.

Are we talking only about which clubs get the best DJs to show up most regularly?

Or are we talking about club design, sound system, atmosphere, etc? Obvious from Stu's post that this wasn't really the case.

I'm also curious as to the geographic breakdown of these 600 DJs...

I agree... I don't think the list says much more than which clubs/promoters english DJs prefer...

I agree with what you say, but I was responding to the comment that most of the dj's asked come from England, not who is better, more well known etc....

I agree with you most djs do come from england. but the list is a bit biased dont you think since they polled 600 International djs.

and how can a dj rate a club when he/she are stuck most of the time behind the dj booth or babied by the staff.
i would rather have a list where they take 20 clubbers and fly them around the world, and rate each club by its sound, staff, decor, atmosphere and overall.

i know i shouldn't care but you've got lots of gullible people that are going to come up and say this club is better because this list says so.

The list does look weighted to the UK and London clubs imo.

Ive only been to a couple of those on the list so far, those being fabric and The Cross. I have to say fabric is the best club ive ever been to, the sound system is immense, Fridays are fantastic there.

Ive been to Pacha in Madrid, not surprised that didnt make it on there

Im with Robo, I also think Fabric shouldnt be top (maybe thats because I dont particularly like its music policy most nights, or some of the crowd, specially on a friday), but appart from that I think i generally agree with most of it.

That list is rubbish. It beggars belief that Fabric in London could ever come above such clubs as Space Ibiza or Amnesia!! RUBBISH! :spank:

My top three would probably be:

Amnesia
Space
Gatecrasher1 (or whatever the club is called where it's held)

Not having been to any of the top 3 it's hard to comment, but I would certainly put Space and DC10 above Pacha any day of the week and I would have expected Ministry to be higher, it is an incredible venue and has some great nights. As far as omissions go, if Lush! can make it into the top 30 Shine should be there too (I suspect this gives some insight into the sort of DJs questioned) and the absence of Bora Bora baffles me.

Hmmm,, now that people mention it, I think they shouldve said top 50 clubs aside from Ibiza.
People are right, most clubs in Ibiza seem far better than those here, but then I dont think its fair. Other clubs cant compete with Ibiza as everyone is in a completely different holiday/partying mood plus its constantly sunny and warm outside.
Hard to compare like for like.

in terms of a proper club I understand why people vote for fabric cos of it's sound system etc, but how can it be number 1 when you have clubs like space in Ibiza. I can't comment on other clubs apart from Ibiza and uk so can't really say about clubs in America.

I normally pay no attention to things like this, it is like when people win oscars, I mean who votes??? prob some rich kids with no idea,

Nikki Beach Miami isn't so much a club as it is a beach house. It’s a great place, especially WMC 2005 with the Radio 1 party. They horrible line que's and outrageous drink prices. Space Miami is another top notch club, the sound in there is perfect through out the club, the lights are amazing, and the terrace under the hot Miami sun is incredible, although the staff is ****.
