Case in point is the poor Bulgarian man who took a concrete block to the head at the hands of a Liverpool supporter on his way home from Turkey this summer.

But Incidents like this are now very isolated. Take a look at Italian, German, Dutch, and especially Turkish football these days. Our fans don't even come close.

To be fair as Stevemac said some of what goes on with European countries fans is way worse than what England fans get up to, unfortunately English fans are still tarred with the image that some made for themselves in the 1980s. And there is still a hardcore minority out there who do go out solely to cause trouble so when that happens it's blown out of all proportion and tarrs the vast majority of English fans unfairly

There was an incident a few years ago when the Italian Ambassador was carpeted in this country and asked for an explanation when England played Italy in Turin (if I remember correctly), and the Italian police stood idly by whilst scores of Italian supporters rained missiles down on the English fans who were made up of almost entirely the official England supporters club including women and children and then baton charged the English fans when a 10 year-old boy had the temerity to throw a plastic bottle back over the fence.Morbyd said:

I feel I might have been misinterpreted here... I don't think in any way that England football fans are the worst in Europe in terms of their attitude or behavior. Far from it. Based on what I've seen and experienced at various matches, I would much rather be together with England fans than Russian, Italian, Turkish, etc...
The point I was trying to make is that, while it's nowhere near as bad as it was in the 1980s, that bad element still exists to some degree. There are sins on all sides.
