Little has changed in Benirràs for the year in the chaos of the area caused the forest fire of 2010. The number of cars that flood the surrounding fields, lack of public transport, performing fire shows the edge of the forest and the absence of emergency vehicles keep the risk of a serious accident in this isolated and difficult escape routes spot.

The small beach Benirràs Benirràs (Sant Joan) is only 130 meters long (compared to 760 or 180 Talamanca Cala Llonga, for example). Its service area of beach (sand area) is about 5,000 square meters. On such small territory every Sunday crowd, at the same time, more than 3,000 people on the occasion of the famous Festival of Drums, taking place that day in the summer to watch the sunset.
That means that there is one person each 1.6 square meters average on this beach, making it surely the most crowded of Ibiza.

It is also Benirràs beach that breaks all records of cars parked in the vicinity: 970 counted this newspaper yesterday at nine in the evening time of maximum attendance of tourists to the Festival of Drums. Extensive rustic surrounding areas, located on both sides of the stream that flows into the beach are areas Benirràs owners have enabled this flood car park. At the entrances to these esplanades there are people who charge three euros each car to park in them. It is in all cases qualified as rustic land and even public domain land area streams.

These 970 cars, however, do not include those who come to Benirràs throughout the rest of the day, but only those that match the same time to watch the sunset. It is among the seven p.m. and ten p.m. when the maximum number of visitors and vehicles occurs.

The problem of overcrowding is compounded by the lack of bus service, although the City Council and had announced to order access to the beach and decrease congestion that occurs in their environment.

Just as there is no bus, nor the existence of any emergency services or relief seen in the area to cover any accidents or injuries requiring emergency evacuation.

In peak hours, this newspaper observed only fleeting presence of a couple of local police. Control and care of the more than 3,000 attendees at the Festival of Drums is left only three private security guards (two on the beach and one for all parking areas), anyway leave to twelve night.

Fire at the forest edge
While hawking is prohibited and so indicate some posters of the City, at least two people were engaged in selling cans of beer to passersby.

However, the most serious offense that occurs during the Sunday sessions in Benirràs is on fire just 20 meters from the forest, which is strictly prohibited by law fire.

This, according checked this newspaper, occurs around 22 hours at a beach club in the area, once it is over the thunder of drums at the other end of the beach, coinciding with the sunset on the horizon . That is when some artists perform a number using elements with fire, and several fires burning on the sand. Finally, light a pyrotechnic device that gives off numerous sparks at the edge of the pine forests there in that place, and where already a serious forest fire originated in 2010.

Moreover, it is clear that the garbage bins that are placed on the beach every 50 meters is insufficient, because the sun is already surrounded by bags that do not fit in them and piles of pizza boxes, bottles and other containers .

Acting Mayor
The Mayor of Sant Joan, Antoni Marí, when asked yesterday about the situation that occurs in this beach, said: "In Benirràs do the same thing we do in other beaches", but added that local police "pays special attention to the Benirràs Sunday, more than anywhere else. " In any case, he admitted that "are not one hundred percent" in this beach day Festival of Drums.

When asked why there is no emergency vehicle in a place with so much competition and so isolated, he replied: "By the same token, why is there not one in Portinatx in sa Cala or Port de Sant Miquel? ".
In any case, he stressed that the City "has managed to have an ambulance in the center of town, at a point equidistant from all the coves, which has been a success."

As for performing fire shows during the season of maximum risk of fire, he admitted that this activity is prohibited, but said ignore that it is currently producing. In any case, "have since heavy fines for this issue," he recalled.

The lack of bus to help decongest traffic suffers Benirràs, the mayor said he was unaware why has not launched this summer, but said: "So far we have been placing the cars' so considered, "surely it did not need to 'the bus.

On Sunday night, a group of 30 people, half of them young children, waiting in access to Benirràs the arrival of a taxi to leave.

The stampede to get to the beach every Sunday attracted by the mystique created around sunset is composed of people of all kinds: from groups of young Spanish students to full families and couples.

Some attendees expressed to reach Benirràs surprise at the massification of the place: "I did not think this was so petado of people and cars. I thought it would be more natural, in deserted cove plan ", he was commenting on a Basque girl with her friends while bringing in a cooler.

The presence of groups of people still on the beach all night until dawn. In the morning, a special cleaning removes residues that have left numerous visitors.

Been meaning to post this since i got back...i got charged 40 euro for 2x sun loungers and an umbrella at Cala D'hort beach!! more than double what we paid elsewhere

Nikki P.
So we went down to Talamanca this afternoon for a couple of hours, it's hot so thought we would get loungers only to be told we had to not only pay for the loungers and umbrella (which is fine) but also we HAD to order food and drink or they would not sell them us!!!! Is this legal? I thought the loungers were for public hire on the public beach... Talamanca has been our local beach for nearly 9years!!!!
This makes me sad :(

What is going on? This island is on the road to hell, only mega wealthy people will be able to live here... and the people who love the island will be forced out.

Jason K.
The islands gone to shit. If you're not ridiculously rich, or sniff, your not welcome.......... What about the rest of us that keep this island alive all winter, working and spending in their supermarkets and garages.

very very good summary about what´s going on @ benirras:

Benirràs and the plague of hippys on sundays
At the feast of the drums bonfires are lit and fireworks are launched by the woods, ignoring all prohibitions

A magical place "," iconic image "," hippy essence, "" energy flow "," special halo "," unique experience "," bohemian "... These are some of the phrases that qualify guidebooks the feast of the drums every Sunday takes place in the cove of Benirràs in Sant Joan, converted reluctantly into a theme park of the topics of the hippy movement that was to give way today to a crowd armed with paloselfies with a mission : to record on social networks an unparalleled event ... a sunset. The Benirràs, already enjoys something of a designation of origin, as the de ses Variades in Sant Antoni.

Insensitive as I am, I can not find substantial differences between the sunsets in the world, but of course I'm not cool or have Instagram to take me to pout. With so much bombastic epithet, it is not surprising that many, to get to the place and check that your car is one among a thousand and on the beach there is a grain of sand on which to roost (become concentrated there up to 3,000 people ) can not hide his disappointment. "I thought it was a bucolic holiday in deserted cove plan" a Basque tourist lamented in a revealing story of this newspaper signed by Joan Lluís Ferrer.

The "magic" includes three euros for parking (hopefully) in a dusty lot, the inevitable drone of street vendors (coconuuut, watermeeeellon, cervecitaaasss), the trampling and shoving of other tourists and yuppies prices more than hippys.
Not to mention the persistent tam-tam drums, which destroys neurons that still resist after days of blazing sun, alcohol bottle and music blaring.

Within a few days they will mark six years of the great fire that swept Benirrás and began in a cave inhabited by a woman. I thought in my innocence that, following this ecological disaster that had to be evacuated by land and sea frightened revelers 1500, would have increased security measures.
But pachorra, the Ibizan no one can beat us. Himself mayor of Sant Joan, Antoni Marí'Carraca', unknown why stopped working bus service preventing traffic congestion and admits that there are not enough police officers to ensure security. I would not think negligently tildar the mayor. Anda sure hands full with the many vital issues at hand as ... Erm ... mmm ... Come on, walking in a sinvivir. Why has not noticed that some of the weekenders who meet in Benirràs light fire (strictly forbidden) and launch fireworks with joy and jubilation. If a spark catches in the pines, who will be the culprit: the brainless that ignites the fire or policy makers who do not require that the law is enforced?

The islet is Cap Bernat, against Benirràs, it is also known thanks to the prevailing Booby as 'the finger of God'. And I'd swear it's the middle finger which, as a comb, shows them to those hippyjs and their "energy flow".;)

Dealers beaches of Sant Josep charge more than double the maximum price authorized

The shocking figures that were paid for lots of beaches of Sant Josep (more than 9 million euros for two years), which were awarded for the first time by auction, has generated much of the dealers inflate prices beyond the maximum authorized in the specifications of the contract for the service.

Based on these, the hammocks and parasols be rented at a maximum price of 10 euros per day and item, halved if purchased from 15.30 hours.

None of the dealers surveyed complied with these parameters.
Only one of the four lots, located on the beach of Ses Salines, respected tariffs, but did not offer the possibility of renting items for half a day. Despite this, in beaches like it is Migjorn is almost impossible to find a free hammock from 11 in the morning. Therefore, many awardees play with rates depending on availability. And there are plenty of customers to hang the poster of 'full' even to reserve items for later days, despite not being allowed.

In one of the most popular restaurants in the beach located in the natural park, the price per hammock is 15 euros, five more of the maximum price authorized by the Consistory, while umbrellas are rented for 10 euros and can be planted outside bounded margins this year by the City by orange ribbons.

And while facilities like the Balinese beds are subject to the express authorization of the City, in practice most dealerships offer similar structures composed of two or more mattresses hammocks. And take the opportunity to inflate prices. In this same dealer they charge 50 euros for double hammocks accompanied by an umbrella; and 60 if rented with two umbrellas.

"If you come in the evening it is cheaper, depending on the time. If you covered the day, I leave you free, 'says one of those responsible for the service of beaches of this lot, who when questioned by the existence of fees for half a day, just giving: "In the afternoon, 30 euros for two hammocks and umbrella. " That is, the maximum allowed in the specifications of the City Council for the whole day price.

Nor service schedules, which under the conditions set by the government team of Sant Josep was set for 11 to 19 hours are respected. To zoom in, as quoted by the technical specifications, express authorization must ask the Consistory and have rescuer if the schedule of the rescue of that beach is exceeded. In all surveyed dealers begin to assemble the elements of beach from 08.00 hours and retreat towards 21 hours.

In a famous bar located on the beach of is Cavallet, the price is 20 euros hammock in the closest to the shore section. "It's a little expensive. It is for 'touristy' "admits one of the service workers to be questioned. Neither it offers the possibility of renting it for half a day at a reduced price. "I can not do anything because I have to head back. This beach is expensive, do not you get compensated hammock in the afternoon, "he confesses with a certain resignation.

A few meters further back, next to the restaurant, there is provided a place with a dozen Balinese beds for which 80 euros is requested and, in addition, it is mandatory to eat. "Large beds you can go back for 500 euros," snorts the same worker. Despite the prices, the establishment had reserved -a mid-week- all these structures until next August 18. This, like many other dealers, violates the condition of the post of the council with the maximum authorized by price visible element: 10 euros.
It seems reasonable. How else would they explain to the customer that will charge more than twice?

Hypocrisy kills Ibiza

It is curious that having so many people in Ibiza lamenting the destruction and mass of our territory, we have the island as we have. No person on the street, in social networks and in any conversation that does not deplore, regret and criticize the runaway urbanization process suffers Ibiza, exaggerated excessive tourism and the total plundering of its natural resources. We are all against it. And yet, this process still occurs, and at an accelerated pace well. How is it possible if we reject all? It is very clear: the Ibizan can not be hypocrites. If all -Private individuals, entrepreneurs and politicians we acted according to what we preach publicly, we would not be suffering the destruction of our common home. We have the island that we ourselves have created, so let us not complain much, since this is what we wanted.

An example of this hypocrisy it offered the president of the Consell, Vicent Torres, in the interview published on Sunday.
Ibiza supports such an avalanche of visitors and that the only solution would be to ban the arrival of more tourists and establish a ceiling. The president of the Consell, in fact, stated that "records only cluttering tourist resources and infrastructure." Right words, because it is.
But then why does Vicent Torres going every year to tourist fairs to bring the island even more visitors? What makes investing a substantial economic game every year to tell people across Europe: 'venid everyone Ibiza'?

The least we should make a policy is to be consistent with what he preaches.

Or fairs is going to bring even more tourists and to amass further the island, or a cap saturation sets. But they can not do both at the same time because they are contradictory. The politician who thus acts is a bienqueda, those who want to be on good terms with everyone, but ultimately do not satisfy anyone.

Torres also proclaims the need to curb the cement on the island, but so far, still allowing casoplones PTI with 600 square meters in the foothills of the mountains and on rural land. What the hell needs Ibiza houses 600 square meters?
Only speculators and promoters of illegal fiestorros in cottages with ears applaud the passivity of the Consell in this area. It would be enough to change two words in the PTI to avoid these excesses.

Formentera also suffers from the same.
Its president, Jaume Ferrer, always talks to curb overcrowding, says Formentera does not want to repeat the mistakes of Ibiza and other things like that. And yet, he does not miss a single tourist fair to go for European citizens continue flocking to Formentera. That, not to mention the footprint it will leave in protected areas of the island the passage of Ferrer by the Consell, since it was he who allowed the construction of houses of 400 square meters within the Natural Areas of Special Interest (ISNA), or that is, the three virgins pieces that remained in Formentera.

In short: hypocrisy.
Every time a politician speaks to curb overcrowding or preserve the territory, they better act accordingly. And, if not, that street.

illegal moorings
Foreign yachts avoid paying fines for anchoring on Posidonia
So far this year has not been open any file

Boats moored inside the Ses Salines Natural Park, on the island of Formentera.

Efforts of Watchers Natural Park of Ses Salines to prevent illegal moorings on seagrass meadows not seem to be reciprocated by the Regional Administration, which leaves virtually unpunished damages this declared World Heritage treasure cause.

This is the conclusion that emerges from the information provided to this newspaper by the general director of Natural Areas and Biodiversity Govern, Caterina Amengual, who confirmed that, so far this year, his department has not opened any disciplinary proceedings by complaints received. :spank:
In addition, these sanctions are usually considered mild and do not exceed 500 euros and above, ships with foreign employers-the majority tend to avoid paying penalties. :spank:

The Department of Environment of the Government is directly responsible for managing the Natural Park of ses Salines of Ibiza and Formentera, as allowed under the law. However, the department heads Vicens Vidal fails to exercise enforcement policy to play a deterrent role for offenders.

The bodies and administrations directly formulate complaints in the protected area (private companies, Seprona, GEAS and agents Environment) send these letters to the conselleria and there are to be processed. Although so far this year have already reported at least a dozen anchoring of boats on Posidonia, the Department says it has received only two complaints, on which, moreover, still has not opened the corresponding disciplinary proceedings, he admitted the conselleria. The department believes that the two complaints received more added in the coming days, because "usually take some time from when the complaint is made and reaches the general direction of Natural Areas".

100 euros for razing Posidonia
Besides having not yet initiated any disciplinary proceedings, fines imposed when it finally resolves some are purely testimonial. This is demonstrated by the sanctions agreed by illegal moorings in ses Salines of Ibiza and Formentera in 2015, when seven ships were fined in total. The sanctions were described as mild and the amount ranged between 100 and 500 euros, :spank: according to data provided by the Department of Environment of the Government.

However, it not even always manages to collect such small quantities.:spank: "In many cases foreign employers can not run the constraint (and therefore charge) because it is individuals who are outside of the bases of national personal data, 'he explained conselleria. In fact, Environment unknown how many of the fines just really claiming, since it is processed through the Ministry of Finance.

Eight boats in the area
Currently, two private companies (Pitiusa Ecology and CBBA) remain deployed in Formentera five boats with other vigilantes so many that they inform the skippers and, where appropriate, to notify security forces for that course complaint offenders. The Consell de Formentera has a boat and Civil Guard also carries out surveillance in the area. In total, eight or nine boats operating in the Natural Park of Ses Salines regularly during the summer.

Pitiusa coordinator of Ecology, Ivan Moreno, explained that they are overstretched and that in many cases receive requests to attend divert boats moored on the island of Ibiza. "We say we can not go, let them go. We have even calls from Benirràs, and even offer us pay our services, but we can not tell you, "said this member of the company.

Two rants, first off, wankers on quads, who had the bright idea of renting out quads to arseholes that have obviously never ridden one before, it's a wonder Can misses wards aren't stuffed to the gills with these hapless idiots, they should at least ask " have you ridden one of these before ?" , if the answer is "no" , it's hardly a good a idea to put them ( mostly ) on the opposite side of the road where many of the other motorists could be described as moronic.

Secondly, crap adverts on Global radio, who thinks them up !?
The guy that comes on and sings a few bars of Billie Jean (badly), then says " sorry, I'm not Michael Jackson" , you should be sorry, because a) you sound f*** all like him, and b) we know that, because he's dead. And , Japaruvian cuisine !!! Effin Japaruvian cuisine, what is it , raw fish and beans, did they throw a couple of darts at a world map, what next , Swedetralia, meatballs on a BBQ.

Subir a "sa capalleta" de st antonio y encontrar esto!
Que vergüenza! Y la policía no hace nada¿

right, I know that wild camping is basically prohibited on all of the balearic islands (something I personally disagree to). McR, maybe I'm wrong but I think in this case they're exaggerating. I am guilty of going camping wild myself too, but of course I always leave the spot just the same as it was when I arrived. on these pictures I cannot see any vandalism or anything like that. so why are people so upset about it? because it's just next to la capelleta and thus touching the religious side of people? or simply because 'this is the law and how you dare to do it nonetheless'??

camping doesn' essentially mean putting up a fire. if you're just a bit smart you know that in summer it REALLY is stupid to do a bonfire round here.
one idiot is enough to burn half the island down.
plus lots of this pickpocket-scum live/hide "in the woods" in tents ...
