Was reminiscing the other day and this oldie came to mind ......

Junior Vasquez - "Get Your Hands Off My Man"

- sounds a bit crap now, but quite nostalgic.

:)

The first tune that comes to mind when I think of my early clubbing back in 1988 is:

Nitzer Ebb - Hearts & Minds (remix)

Crescendo - Are you out there!
to this day I am still unlcear what she sings, we always thought "like an oven turkey"

Jaydee - Plastic Dreams

the whole Loved Up Album, although it is very eerie to listen to these days :?

Are you trying to tell us something Drewster?;)

not my first tune by any stretch but I will always remember Sasha opening one night at Venus, Nottm with that mix of "im the one" by Jody Whatley...bloody awesome!!!

I predicted sarcasm as soon as i'd logged off last night. Couldn't be arsed to boot back up and change it to (that dreadful) "I'm Horny" by ???

Anyhow, it was Ang that did the reminiscing so off the hook.

Why would you change it to avoid a gentle ribbing old chap?

Bob - I Feel For You
Jazzy M - Jazzin The Way
and Modjo - Lady, thought it's nigh on impossible to imagine that being played in a club, it got smashed like 6 times in 1 night at ministry, people just couldn't get enough of it

I'm surprised. I thought you were older, Dan.

Ah, I remember the days when Lady and Groovejet were on high rotation almost everywhere. By the time they hit radio, you wanted to pull your hair out  Don't mind the tunes now though... bit of nostalgia.

That Bob song is a classic 8)

indeed, a good tune is a good tune forever and will withstand the "classic" test of being rinsed on every radio station under the sun.

where loves lives, not over yet, groovejet, lady, finally, etc, etc

I remember Jazzy dropping JTW in Pacha back then (the good version)

P.S. I always imagined you'd been into the scene longer than is suggested by the above tunes?! Were you a late bloomer or are you really THAT young?

No, but essentially they we're my first e records, and hence 'proper' clubbing.

If we were going back further, it's the stannard (drifting into what became known as 'handbag!) house sound and the aspirational images of Ministry Of Sound PLC that I worshipped as a young 'un that got me into it all.

Garage was my first musical obsession, though looking back it could never be called "real" clubbing.

I did have possibly the best (older and contemporary) clubbing educators looking back, and I'd be a shadow of my current 3-day self if it wasn't for them.
