now there's nothing wrong with remixing a tune but one might think that there was a distinct lack of originality thsedays in dance music if some of the biggest tunes of the year are actually remixes of older classics.
I partly agree with that statement - but at the end of the day people are going to remix/sample everything, it makes the world of dance music go round....
What also can be asked is that if the 'big ibiza tracks' are remixes/remakes of older tracks, are djs playing it a little safer towards the dancefloor, rather than educating people. It's a fine line between playing tracks people recognise, playing all new tracks which people don't get, and breaking down barriers.
Re: Mark Knight, I last caught him last tuesday at Defected at Pacha, and he put on a decent show... I was slightly confused at why he was playing for Defected over some of their usual headliners, but he did well.
First heard Mark Knight drop the Man With The Red Face at the Juicy pool party in Miami back in March, and knew it'd be a biggie. I agree with the people that have said that Man With The Red Face is a money making track, but at the end of the day you can't deny the fact that it destroys 95% of dancefloors. Well done Mr K!
