I fancied taking up something for flexibility

Drew, please let me know what you find out. I will do the same from my end. I have been working out for a while, and I am in pretty good shape, but what I really like now is to become as flexible as possible. I am always amazed by how flexible women are. From a professional perspective it is simply amazing; from a personal perspective it opens up a lot of possibilities in the sack   .

I am gonna check out a class on Systema tomorrow evening.

I'll be seeing to Mr Pilates himself in a couple of weeks so i'll ask him to go over some basics with me.

I put more importance on the woman being the flexible one.

;)

tbh, blokes with well developed 'gym bodies' always seem to struggle a bit at first with yoga. their bodies ain't usually too supple and their body mass can interfere with attaining some postures.

plus gym workouts tend to be farily competitive exercises and gym-headz can have problems relaxing enough to achieve the mental state necessary for a good yoga practice.

i do Astanga and find the flowing nature of the practice an excellent cardio workout.

be warned about gym based yoga. poor teachers cause many injuries, especially to knee and hip joints.

remember, breathe and relax and all will be fine. (a bit like with other things ;) )

I agree russ, people can get great flexibility relaxing and breathing right. Can you tell me what are the main differences between Astanga and Hatha yoga? I did only Hatha yoga. Robder has given us short definitions of yoga forms but I would like more details about Astanga practice. Thank you.
