me and the enemy are planning a trip to NYC next feb for 4-5 days. Yesterday i found out that a friend who works out there is getting wed whilst we are going to be there.

we know them quite well but feel a little cheeky inviting ourselves along, cos after they will be essentially paying for us for to share in their wedding.

it reminds me a bit of our wedding when some total random DJ who i think i'd spoken to once for 2 minutes in summer 2000 asked if he could "spin some tunes" on our big day. i told him where to go and informed of who was actually doing it, which put him in his place.

so anyway, what should i do??

Just let said friends know you are planning a trip to NY, then leave it up to them to invite you or not.

It depends how good friends you are, I think it they're aware that you're in New York at the same time then if they want you there they'll invite you if not then they obviously don't want you there  ;)

Who was the DJ story

suppose so.

the DJ was some rotter, just one of these "oh if i turn up with a load of tunes, can i have a residency at mambo/bora bora types, i'll play anything". nobody well known, played once at bora bora for 5 minutes when gee went for a piss and tried to live off that for 3 years.

i trumped him with an ibiza DJ who alexis knows from back in tha day.

Hi grego!

Anybody can go to a wedding, depending on the size of the church/registry office. They're typically public occasions and I'm sure the happy couple would love to see you there.

The reception is the expensive part. I wouldn't advise inviting yourself to that unless your friend makes it clear he really wants you there, and/or you get them a great big present.

your matter-of-factness never fails to make me smile michael!:D :D

i've decided i'm going invite myself on the premise that i'm some crap Dj that can play any style you want and is a legend cos one time at band camp i served carlos sosa a quarterpounder and now i make out like i'm in demand or somethin, or worse a good DJ.
