I can't believe this was allowed to be released. 8O And I really cant believe people like it enough for it to be doing well in some charts. 8O x 1000.

And the fact it is the first release from their new album just sums up the state of the modern commercial crap that is out there.

all pop music in the noughties has been a bit crap hasn't it ?

most of it either makes you want to kill the artist, kill the DJ playing it, kill the person next to you or (most likely) kill yourself

honourable exceptions in recent years:

gnarls barkley, outkast, empire of the sun, lily allen and maybe a handful of others

Pretty Much but tbh I think we where spoiled by having some quality pop in the 80's & 90's Plus we are getting old mate

Andy Weatherall Screamadellica mix from 6 music

There are more but thats all i can remember for the time being

I'd like to think it was an age thing, I mean alot of it is. But with the emergance of reality TV, where anyone can be famous without having a talent, we are inundated with absolute shi7e most of the time. FACT.

Id concur with that too mate. Cowell has a lot to answer too imo! All these X factor people seem to push the people with genuine talent out of the way so all you are left with is cover versions of Dont stop believing

but the light is on and burning brightly for the masses

Depends how you define pop music. Annie is good and I'm not ashamed to say so is some Girls Aloud stuff. If you're having Empire of the Sun, you might as well have MGMT. Gorillaz are good - actually Plastic Beach is a cracking album. As is Delphic's Acolyte. A lot of chart dance is better labelled as pop IMO and there's the occasional good 'un. My brain's not quite kicked in yet this morning coz I should be able to list loads more.

Outkast - good band, but I'd be mighty pleased if I never hear Hey Ya again. And Lily Allen, though cute, is a bit poo.

yeah ok Annie, Gorillaz there's probably others too (certainly not girls aloud!)

the general point though is that pop ain't what it used to be

basically when pop stopped being fun and silly and instead became a marketing tool for record labels to cynically pitch sexually aggressive manufactured singers at kids, that's pretty much when it died.

and yes some of us got old!
 
i wanna be a billionaire so frikkin bad , start without u - alexandra burke , florida and bruno mars on everything, these heinous efforts are getting a disproportional amount of airtime which is unfortunate for me when my ipod battery runs out and I have to continuously twiddle with my nob - something quite dangerous in these weaather conditions

Exactly!

But the worst thing is radio 1 have a show on Saturday they call Top Banana when you can pick ANY song that ever was made (apart from Heather Small - Proud apparently) you can choose the old the obscure whatever and you will always get at least 3 complete tw@s who will choose Bruno Mars or "u think ur cooler than me"... WHY
