Woo Hoo - Insurance Claims

I mentioned yesterday that we had a flood upstairs at home on Monday evening and it was a total nightmare  - got the insurance guys round today and we are going to have

The Kitchen ceiling replastered and the whole kitchen decorated - result - it needed it!!

New carpets in the
office
upstairs landing, stairs and downstairs passage
new bathroom flooring and decorating

we dont have to do any ringing around, the insurance will get the flooring people sorted and the decorators sorted once the humidifiers have dried out the rooms....

Very excited now - need to start looking at flooring samples and colour charts and no work to do ourselves!!!!!

So for a few days of mess - a half newly decorated house - yippee!!!!!!!:p

Hmm.... something seems wrong about that, Pups... can't put my finger on it... probably something about everyone's insurance rates rising for your new kitchen!!

(just kidding... sounds like a great bonus! ;))

including my own - lose my 30% no claims bonus so that makes my insurance up by that amount next year - ridiculous as I have never made a claim in the 8 years I have had the insurance, and I still have to pay the first £75 excess (which is normal)

Still, that will teach me for not paying an initial one off payment to protect my no claims bonus..... You just dont think it will happen to you.....

The best bit of the whole thing is not having to do the work ourselves which I anticipated doing, then claiming back on sending in the invoices...... would have taken us weeks to do this because we are so busy..

hey pups. a similar thing happened to us a few years back. got flooded from the flat upstairs and got pretty much the whole gaff re-done.

dunno if the premiums went up. as soon as the place was decorated, we sold up and moved out. fnar fnar

Excellent!!!! 8)

Well we were planning on moving ourselves, until the nobs next door put their house up for sale so now we plan to stay (if they sell) and convert the loft/attic of the house into a proper office and take the spare bedroom back.... fingers crossed they go anyway (I really want to stay! )

The mess is unbelievable - the house stinks of wet carpets. floorboards dust etc - 4 days of having a humidifier in every room to dry out!! Phil has just texted me to say the noise is very annoying - think we might be going out tonight now.....
