Wonderland Opening

Just seems a very bizarre choice of guest.
Certainly not traditional, and actually perhaps a bit too mellow judging from the one time I saw him in concert, but if truth be told I'd actually venture over to San An for a club night if I were on the island that week! Great performer. Plus the man has more style in his fingertip than most artists coming up these days!

Yeah, but she was/is the "in-thing" for the teenie boppers so I could kind of understand that.

Look at the rest of the lineups they've had at Wonderland previously - DJ's you would never imagine playing Eden - Luciano, Nic Fanculli, James Zabiela, Timo Mass etc...

Fair play to the promoters for bringing something different into San An.

Think it's good that Tongy is getting some unusual guests - Ferry actually sounds pretty good on the recent Groove Armada track. Maybe he'll get Will Young to perform later in the season?!

Hopefully the diverse and high profile guests & DJ's that are now regularly playing at Eden will help chance the outdated view that some people have of San An as a whole.

Bryan Ferry’s loves to dance

Bryan Ferry is embracing dance music on his next record,
after working with Groove Armada, Trentemoller and DJ Hell.

The former Roxy Music frontman has recently re-recorded his collaboration
with Groove Armada – as well as working with other dance artists -
and is set to open Pete Tong's Wonderland night in Ibiza this summer.

He said: “Ibiza is an island full of surprises and I imagine me playing there
must be one of them.

"However I have been a big fan of various kinds of dance music for a very long time,
and my first visit to Ibiza was more than 30 years ago,
so I feel fairly qualified and very enthusiastic about performing there."

Bryan was initially unsure about collaborating with Groove Armada
for the song ‘Shameless’ –
whom he was originally approached to guess on the album of -
but ended up liking the song so much a reworked version will be on his own album.

Tom Findlay from the dance act explained:
“He’d never done a collaboration before, he keeps his own counsel
and he’s quite circumspect.
“We sent him a few tracks and the actual song he really liked,
he recorded the vocal on it and then we totally changed the backing track
because we thought his vocal needed something else.”

Bryan’s version of the song is renamed ‘Shameless (Rock’n’Roll desire)’.

The singer has also recently worked with Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour,
and Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood, the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ bassist Flea
producer Nile Rodgers and dance artists Trentemoller and DJ Hell.

Meanwhile Bryan will perform with Roxy Music this summer at England
Lovebox and Bestival festivals as well as Sonar festival in Spain.

Pete Tong commented:
“For me, Ibiza and specifically Wonderland is all about special moments.
Teaming up Steve Lawler, one of the world’s best djs, with Bryan Ferry,
lead singer of Roxy Music and a legend responsible for some of the most important
pop music of a generation will definitely be a moment for me!
What a way to kick off the season!”

Bryan Ferry commented:
"Ibiza is an Island full of surprises, and I imagine me playing there
must be one of them.
However I have been a big fan of various kinds of dance music for a very long time,
and my first visit to Ibiza was more than 30 years ago,
so I feel fairly qualified and very enthusiastic about performing there.
Pete Tong is one of the coolest guys on the dance music scene,
and I feel honoured to be asked to play at his opening night."

Steve Lawler said:
“I’m really looking forward to playing the opening party at Pete’s Wonderland
this coming season - let the shenanigans begin!”

Jaymo and Andy George said:
“We're so hyped to be able to take our beloved Moda to Ibiza for the Summer -
last year was great, but to move to a weekly slot is a whole new level.
The line-ups in the Wonderland room are the best they've ever been,
the contrast between the two rooms is gonna be perfect!
We're bringing across a load of our best DJ friends too, ensuring all the madness
you'd expect from a Moda night... just with shorts & flip-flops!
Seems like everyone's involved with this project is pulling out all the stops for this -
I hope Ibiza is ready! “

those press releases beg the following questions:

when was pete tong last cool? 1993? 1979? 1852? I really don't know

why is Bryan Ferry who IS cool demeaning himself by performing at wonderland ???

and most disturbing of all WHO IN THE FK invited radio gaga to Ibiza?

I'm pretending to myself he meant cool as in a nice, friendly guy rather than in the fashionable sense.

I wonder how this'll work. Will he have a band?
