Wyndham Miami Beach Resort - Friday March 24th to Tuesday March 28th.

I know it's early but.. who's going?

Who's been there before?

I'm seriously thinkin' of going.. but ..will it worth it (flying half the world around that is:) )?

Was thinking of first doing WMC and then Brazil or some other south american country...

Nice try Mate!

We are seriously thinking about this. We're planning a trip to Colorado, but may go to Miami first, then make our way over to our destination.

South Beach is probably one of the nicest areas of Florida, and you get thousands of party people from all over the world, with the best DJ's playing at all the clubs, you can't not have a great time there.

Plus, the American dollar is close to half the worth of a pound, it makes for a pretty reasonable trip.

I would do it in a heartbeat...

solask, last year I got like eight million texts from friends that were going ballistic over how amazing the music was... each text was like "so-and-so is putting on the set of his LIFE right now!!" etc. I wanted to kill myself when Sander Kleinenberg was up and seriously about 5 different people texted me and said it was one of the best sets they had ever heard!!! (Sander is my favorite... I was soooo jealous :evil: :evil: )

This year I said, NO MORE!!! I am going to be part of this.... if I have to walk there, I will.......... 8) 8) You are a music lover, I see you browsing the music forum all the time.... GO!!

Brian, you must go my darling!! Could you manage it with work and stuff?

I was thinking of going a while back, but I got chatting to some guy on the space (ibiza) terrace a few weeks ago and he said last year it was rubbish.

Too busy, places closed early, vibe not as good as ibiza, the local council and the police are extremely strict kill-joys etc etc. :cry:

Can anyone confirm or deny any of these allegations?

I may still go but on the other hand I could go to something like Global Gathering for only a few hundred dollars more, or just save my cash for the total blow-out that will be Eivissa 2006! 8)

I have gone to WMC for the last 3 years and it's really a matter of what parties you find. There's literally hundreds of events going on during the week, and the absolute best parties are what we call "sleepers" .. you go to them having no expectations and getting blown away at how much fun you have.

For instance, this year there was a party with Lee Burridge and Danny Howells in this tiny little bar playing all 80s and early 90s pop and new wave music, all night. It was one of the funnest parties of WMC!

There was another Plastic Sex party which went off, the Porterhouse party at State was absolute insanity, and Howells @ BED was class too. My experience was pretty positive but if you don't find the right events then you could very well have a shit time.

It's all about skipping the obvious and big parties. They always bring the common denominator and end up being a shit vibe with too many people and too much attitude.

went in 2003 had a great time some top nights. but its not a patch
on ibiza not even close.its worth a trip but i wont go back.

Everything that jonathan mentioned above is true, going off what my friends had to say about it. They stayed away from a lot of the massive events and made up a little gameplan of what parties seemed cool and what DJ's they wanted to see when... no matter what big name brand production company was putting it on etc. They all had an amazing time.

axon, I did hear a couple stories about the security/police being pretty pushy, but that is to be expected. No one had any horrible things to say, just that they were sorta gruff.

Also, no one mentioned anything about places closing early.

Miami, FL - March 18th - March 26th (Saturday – Sunday) are the dates for the Miami Music Conference, the longest, largest, highest-profile celebration of music in the city's history.

With an extended 9 day schedule of music, celebrity DJs, industry events, and world-class musicians, the Miami Music Conference is the flagship music event of the year.

Why the longer schedule?

In the past, cramming the celebration into just one long weekend has caused several challenges:

1) Not all attendees can fly to Miami on the same weekend.

2) There are too many events to attend and not enough time to attend them;

3) Too many visitors flying into and out of Miami resulting in higher flight rates; 4) Insufficient amount of hotel rooms resulting in over priced accommodations and services;

5) Long lines and over priced door covers resulting from way too much consumer demand:

6) Overcrowded and uncomfortable clubs putting everyone (especially club doormen) in a bad mood;

7) No time to stop and enjoy Miami and the Beaches.

With a generous schedule of 9 days (5 weekdays and 2 weekends), the Miami Music Conference offers two different weekends for attendees to choose from. Miami locals now get a chance to see the action and Spring Breakers can finally take in the experience. DJs can play longer sets, attendees can catch more industry events, and, most importantly, more people can see more DJs. “Clubs have already started booking DJs to play two shows instead of just one. This will be a tremendous help in relieving the over crowding at the clubs”, explained Louis Puig owner of Space, Spirits and Spin.

Finally, in response to the urging of club-goers, DJs, and the entire music industry, everyone will get the lengthened music celebration and relaxation we need and deserve. The South Beach Nightclub and Hotel Association stated; “Miami nightclubs and hotels will finally get the opportunity to properly host our guests and show the world what an incredible place this can be when you have the time to relax and enjoy. Flights and hotel rooms are already being booked so plan ahead and save.”

The festivities will begin on Saturday March 18th with the two-day Global Gathering Music Festival. Global Gathering in England and Ireland are hugely successful celebrations that set attendance records in both countries. Angel Music Group, Track Entertainment and Space bring this phenomenal festival to South Florida as part of the Miami Music Conference. Global Gathering will take place on Saturday and Sunday and will feature a diverse lineup of the world’s top electronic, rock, urban and Latin acts. These 2 massive events will attract over 40,000 people to Miami and the beaches

Brian, you must go my darling!! Could you manage it with work and stuff?

don't know if I can afford it this year, but will try.

I am supposed to be going to a friend's wedding in LA after New Years, so I may hit you up to come party w/ us for a night, will keep you posted...

I am actually browsing around right now for a job I can do a couple nights a week to raise money... I am going to whatever it takes to go to WMC AND Ibiza this year. There is a resort I used to work at in Rancho Santa Fe that is always hiring for banquet and party servers... easily an extra $100 or so a week. Plus, I am sure there are going to be more go go gigs around the corner :P

My bills are just so massive... its frightening to think about 8O And here we are coming in to the season of buying plane flights to see family, buying gifts etc... seems like I will never see daylight.

Hellz yeah let me know when you're gonna be in LA, Anjali and I will come visit.

I hear ya on the money front. I might be delaying purchasing a home until I can get my debt lowered a bit. Plus, the FED raised the interest rates again another 1/4%. I will do my damndest to get out there, but I may need to work some weekends building patios for a while :?

When you gonna be in L to the A Brian? We must go partying and I have two bedrooms so you could stay with us :lol: ;) 8)

It doesn't suck that much to be me right now!!!! ;)

I am trying to find a cheap ass flight there. I think the wedding is on January 8th???? I need to get my $hit situated...

I know there are cheap flights out here. I just got a flight from LAX to Philly for 186! So from Colorado to LAX it shouldn't be that bad. Cheaper to fly into LAX than SD airport or anywhere else in California.
