there seems to be a very large hatred on these forums for the west end an for nights like gatecrasher and judgement sundays, i spent every night on the west end when i was there and it was amazin, great atmosphere, and judgement sundays was the best night i had, i wouldnt have swapped it for space for anything dispite how all the people on here love it. WOTS THE PROBLEM?????

People just have different tastes, what one person may love another hates, as long as you had a good time that's all that matters :D

It's just a clash of clubbing culture. The events that I've been to in San Antonio (once Eden, once Es Paradis, once West End though not going inside anywhere, so admittedly not too many) seemed to attract a younger rowdier-looking crowd. It's also very Brit-dominated. On the other side of the island, you tend to get a more cosmopolitan crowd and the club events are, at least in my mind, more oriented on a serious clubbing crowd.

It's just my opinion and you'll find there are others on here like you who enjoy spending time in San Antonio.

Cos it smells like poo.............

JOKE!

I don't drink in the westend cos I'm a grumpy old bint that doesn't like places that are too rowdy. Prob would have liked it when I was younger though.

the problem is that for your average clubber the west end is 'uncool', its not really anything to do with the type of clubbing most people on here like, in fact its close to being the antithesis of it.

so like DJs who go out of fashion or compliations CDs that become too commercial...........the only thing to do is slag them off.

I like the west end for the memories I have of it and the friends I still have who work there.

Don't listen to most people on here who slag it off cos they've never been or never want to go, so in essence their opinion is irrelevant. Its the opinions of the people who like or used to like the West End you should listen to. ;)

i tried it a couple of nights, then someone was sick on my friends foot as he walked down the street... also being a girl you seem to get proper sleazos leeching and leering at you in the west end which doesnt happen elsewhere... like morbyd says its very brit dominated and in my opinion not much different from the likes of kos, magaluf, malia etc...

I spent nearly every night of my first Ibiza holiday aged 18 in the West End and had a brilliant time. More than a decade on (eeek) my tastes have changed - I wouldn't slag it off but I wouldn't choose to spend time there.

can i say that i prefer the west end to pacha anyday. pacha was just full of boring old f&rts, at least the west end is fun.

i like going to the west end for a few laughs, but i can see why people dont like it. theres a lot of knobends going about, and it really isn't any different to any other 18-30 type resort.

each to their own, ive got places i like to go in the west end, and if i go down there i just try and ignore the numpties. 99% of people there are just having fun, so if the west end is your bag thats cool!

Prefer to spend time elsewhere on the island though. Lack of money pulls me toward the west end in between "serious clubbing" nights.

Agreed, I've had some great nights there and feel its is better now than its ever been. Its a great alternative to the extortionate entry & bar prices charged by the large clubs and you still get to hear some great music in the likes of Hush & Plastik.

from what ive been told by people who used to live in Ibiza San Antonio is mostly populated by British lager louts the union jack shorts brigade who are loud and obnoxious and make a show of themselves and their country therefore the more "discerning clubber" would not want to mingle with these type of people (chavs)

You've hit the nail on the head there

When I went to Ibiza in 2004, we spent one night there, and we had a good time getting drunk and acting like a lout for one evening. I can't be on my game 24/7!!!

I don't like it because when on holiday I don't want to visit England by the sea.

I start getting upset if the Spanish/Italian contingent is low because I love the energy they bring to a night out.

The people tend to be a little older and more representative of Europe as a whole in non-San An nights...and also, I hate trance music.

...

...that's not to say it wouldn't be fun though. Part of me would love to give it a try but two weeks isn't long enough to fit the clubbing equivalent of Leicester Sq into my schedule unfortunately.

I did go and watch the football there in June, does that count?

Loads of things about the place irritate me, the annoying PR's for one, the smell of dried alcohol, large groups of drunk teenagers, fat girls in angel wings and devils horns and **** music. I am never drunk enough to actually enjoy it and I hate see the drunken antics of your average English lout, whether thats in my local high street or in San An.

I prefer to spend my evening strolling around Ibiza town before hitting the clubs. The west end serves a purpose, that purpose just isnt for me any more, if I was 17 and knew no better I'd think it was the dogs.
