who's quit smoking?

I went cold turkey without any aids in 1992. Never touched one since and never crave one either. Took up running to help me stop, joined an athletic club and became addicted to running instead.

Did two Great North Runs while still smoking in 1 hour 50 minutes, after I quit I knocked 20 minutes off my times and got under 1 hour 30 minutes a couple of times! 8O Was up there with the fast runners, went on to do another seven GNRs. Still running today..........erm.........well OK, more jogging nowadays.

not been on here in ages....

The smoking ban came in hear a year ago and I thought it would be the ideal way to give up all together...wrong! All of the bars have made great beer gardens and terraces:lol:

It's also quite nice now going out for a cig with your mates to cool down a bit and chat. Saying that, I don't somke early as much actually on the night out now cause I never want to leave the dancefloor.

However...at the afterparty I'll get through 40!

3 months last weekend - and I have not missed it at all (however I am still enjoyed "adult" cigs of a night ;) ;)

Not bothered me going out either and I am def proud of myself - its actually lovely coming home and not stinking of tabs, so I think I will carry on with this non-smoking lark - plus I am saving £100+ a month which means more shoes and stuff for me!!!!!

That's great Steph, stick with it. I haven't even tinkered with 'Adult' ciggies, I was too scared in case it set me off again. :?

That's what I thought - but it hasnt really - and if I do go to a club I normally have my Blue Peter "Here's one I made earlier" out with me anyway just in case..... ;)

Hmmm... all this time I thought my Davidoff Ultras were adult cigarettes... ever since I graduated up from those candy cigarettes I used to suck on as a kid.

well now you know...... dont take a ciggie off me if we see each other in Ibiza..

nearly 4 months for me.

i found it really easy. ive been tempted on a night out but have resisted the urge and the urge soon passes

(i did have a puff of a fag last week and have sworn never to do that again as i liked it and dont wanna start again)

in the end, giving up is pretty easy. it is staying not smoking that takes mental stregnth.

i was a proper smoker for years and years but i love not smoking now.

i actually cant wait for the ban to start and for the pubs to be nice clean places to visit instead of the smelly pits they are (hark at me, mr reformed puffa)

i have studiously avoided 'adult' ciggies as i think they may be my downfall.

its a distinct possibility - as I had my first one at 1.00pm yesterday whilst in the garden........ which is definately a few hours earlier than normal....

Still it was nice reclining, listening to the birds singing away and having a lovely pot of tea...... bliss!

Almost me too.

Came back from a lengthy sunbathing session in the park, found one of top of the fridge (of all places  ) but thought better of it as i've not touched any for a while.

I would have been knocked for six.

P.S. How are you Pups - long time, no speak - are you off to see your parents this year?

Me too - I felt a bit embarrassed and Golum like TBH
My garden is on a slope then drops to 3 levels - me trying to get back up the garden was not a pretty sight - especially as the lovely kids next door wanted me to play badminton with them over the fence.... 8O 8O 8O

Still it was very pleasant and will be repeating this every sunny Sat/Sun 8) 8)

You have better willpower than me Drew - that's for sure!!!!

Not sure - I have offered the folks my house for a fortnight so they can visit blighty whilst I am in Ibiza - although may have to revoke that invite as they are muttering something about staying on for a few more days to catch up with us when we get back - now as much as I love my parents there is no way on this earth that I could cope with my Mum and Dad after 2 weeks in Ibiza - 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O

So, if I dont get to see them and my sis does - then its a trip to Cyprus again for me - but much later in the year - either just before Ibiza 2 or just after - Oct is always a good month for a tan out there I think..... You?

Probably get over for a week in June. Much as i don't really care for the place, it's nice to catch up with the in-laws (and eat all their grub!)

Can't decide where else to go this year still. Fancy going to NYC, but we do like our beaches lol. Not really drawn to Ibiza this year but will probably end up at Space closing to finish the summer off.

Anyhow, who needs to travel when we have weather like this at home 8)

We were discussing whether we fancy Italy (driving down the coast) and then on to Sicily - I have a hankering to visit the place.... :? :? :?
