Which country makes the best beer?

DOes anyone ever go to the CAMRA Great British Beer Festival at Olympia? I've been going for 3 years and it's a top day out.

One of the best ales I've ever tasted:

Heather Ale

Real ale is served at cellar temperature .... C (54-57 F), which is somewhat cooler than room temperature. If real ale is too warm it is not appetizing, it loses its natural conditioning (the liveliness of the beer due to the dissolved carbon dioxide). CAMRA.
I know it's not actually room temperature. It just feels like it because I'm used to cold beer

Does anyone else get as annoyed as me when foreigners think we all sitting round drinking flat pints of room temperature lager?
Not lager, but ale. ;)

Lager is properly refrigerated and carbonated in the UK. :D

I've tried Fullers and I think Young's too.

I mentioned earlier in my list that I like full-flavored ales, so they were fine and quite smooth going down without all the carbonation (probably a bad thing  )

That wasn't directed at you but it just reminded me. There are many though who do actually think we drink lager like that. Probably the people who just drink nothing but bottles of Bud or something.

I only like the first glass of lager of the night after that it tastes weird...

and I only drink really weak lager like Fosters Ice, Corona, Sol or a weird one from a machine which comes out sort of slushy called Arc - I am so not a connoseiur of beer - now whisky.... that's another matter......

Do they still make Arc? I've not seen it for about 3 years. Odd stuff!

I'm inclined to say that the Czech Republic make the tastiest beer, but my favourite is actually Asahi Super Dry, made in Japan...

Aussie beer is nice, but nobody drinks fosters or xxxx.. it's all about the Cascade and Hahn Premium Lager. I drank Victoria Bitter as a student but can't stand it anymore!

I think the Japanese thing of taking anything western, and then making it better also applies to their beer.

Kirin
Asahi
Sapporo

Yum ;)

Please please dont confuse real beer (aka ALE) with Lager. that fizzy stuff is just junk!

Now bring on the Bah Humbug - Wychwood's Christmas Beer

I think the folks in Pilzen would disagree with you

Plus, there are plenty of ales that are just as fizzy (they're just not made in the UK, for the most part).
