Hi

Can anyone tell me where is the best place to stay, Im more of a space man:lol: or pacha, DC1o than san antonios got to offer but they have cafe mambo8O I was thinking of Playa De bossa but I heard its not very nice. I take it Ibiza town is probably the best? I would be working near Space I think / Hope

if you are a space man then stay in pdb... the location isn't pretty... but convenient for space, DC10, bora bora, very close drive to ibiza town.. i wouldn't stay all the way over in san an if the only thing you're interested in there is mambo

You'll be working near Space for the whole season? Obviously, you don't want to live too far away.

Playa den Bossa is a bit touristy but I don't think it's "not very nice" and it's my prefered area to stay. I still think it's one of the best beaches on the island, if a bit crowded. Lots of inexpensive (and a few very nice) food options as well.

Ibiza Town is more urban and less touristy in parts. It's also generally a bit more expensive for long-term rental, I think.

In between the two is Figueretas, which might be a decent option. San Jordi just north of PdB might also be an option...I know there are villas there but not sure about apartments.

great thanks for the help,
Ibiza town would be nice but i hear its a little expensive so possibly figueretas, thats in between

thanks:D

What about Jesus, great place to stay 8) In the middle (sort of) of Ibiza Town and San An. But a lovely village location.

Figueretas is a way better choice to stay imo, PDB has got Space, Bora Bora and Passion but apart from that very little else that you'd want on a holiday - with the exception of Passion the eating places are dire and the bars are very much for football top wearing types. Tantra is ok for hanging around pre-aftershows @ Space with fellow reprobates but hasn't really taken off as Ancient People RIP  did. In Figueretas you're only about a 20 min walk from Space/Bora Bora as well plus walking distance to Ibiza Town the other way.

Of course, it's a subjective opinion, but it always surprises me to hear people saying that PDB is a nice beach, for me it's the ugliest and the less appealing in the island

What makes the difference to you when it's about beaches? Discuss

I'm with you Sil, PDB is an ugly beach esp compared to most of the other beaches in Ibiza, the only appeal of it is that it has got Bora Bora, but in genernal terms as beaches go it is very unappealing.

I agree Sylvia. Its dirty, overcrowded, noisy, smelly and covered in bottles and other rubbish. I really can't undestand why people sunbathe there when there are so many wonderful baeches on Ibiza.

Firstly, I usually go in June when PdB is not very dirty and not that overcrowded. I assume it gets worse later in the summer though it's seemed fine to be in late September.

I prefer for my beaches to have sand, no rocks and no plants. If you look at, for example, Talamanca, it's quite nice but too many plants. Cala Jondal is a favorite of mine but there's rocks. Same with Las Salinas.

PdB is a nice, long, sandy beach and there aren't many like it in Ibiza. It's downside, of course, is that it has been built up and commercialized.

There's also Moorea's (grilled fish & steaks) and Dolce Vita (Italian including homemade pasta). McRackin says the new place where the Indian restaurant at Bali Beach used to be is quite good, run by people who used to work at Sa Caleta.

On the less fancy side, there's a good English breakfast at one place on a sidestreet (name escapes me). The hot & sour soup at the Chinese place near Somny is a lifesaver (though the rest of the menu is sub-par). I had a very tasty kabob from a place near Space.

There's a lot of tourist trap places too, of course. Inexpensive but not spectacular. I wouldn't say there's nothing to eat though.

That said, I think there's more non-touristy options in Figueratas as it's a bit more urban/less resort than PdB.

I've tried virtually everywhere to eat in PDB over the years and I found none of them to be edible, we obviously just have very different tastes. I, for one, certainly wouldn't eat a kebab at any times, least of all in Ibiza

We did try to eat at the restaurant under Bali Beach when we were staying there last year but I think cos it was September their opening hours/times were very limited.

Aren't you vegetarian? That would explain why you wouldn't eat a steak at Moorea's or try the veal at Dolce Vita... or the kebab, of course

edit: you should try the spinach dish at Moorea's, by the way. Irina loves it.

I'm vegetarian, Tom isn't, but we both find PDB rubbish for eating a decent meal. I think from what I've read before your diet is very different to ours.

Anyway as long as I can get a decent breakfast/snack in Passion that serves us nicely and then travel elsewhere for proper meals.

When you say plants, do you mean seagrass?

There's definitely higher concentrations of "nice" restaurants elsewhere, especially in Ibiza Town, as well as nicer places off the beaten path.

I just don't think it's fair to call PdB a wasteland of decent food when there are a handful (admittedly few) of good places, specifically those I named above.

In any case, if Ciaran is there working he/she (sorry!) is probably not going to be eating in the more expensive restaurants nightly. PdB does have a lot of cheaper cafes, as does Figueretas.
