Pacha was my least favorite club when I visited Ibiza last year. I actually prefer the Pacha in NYC much more to the original in Ibiza, simply for a better music policy and the lack of pretension at Pacha NYC.
No doubt Pacha Ibiza is a beautiful space with a lovely soundsystem. However, that's where my compliments end. First, I thought the crowd there was terrible. Lots of "scene and be seen" types. Where Space and DC-10 have a very "international" crowd, I feel that Pacha is very machismo Euro. And that's not a good thing, in my opinion.
Secondly, while the other clubs get a hard time for drug use, the amount of drunk people staggering out of Pacha and into their cars is terrible. I had no less than 3 practically spill their entire drink on me at Pacha; this happened at no other club. Throughout the night I heard the sound of breaking glass as another drunkard dropped their drink on the floor. It's a very serious safety problem, especially for women wearing sandals or other uncovered footwear.
Third, the dancefloor at Pacha is completely dead. There is little energy, when compared to places like Space, DC-10 or Amnesia. No one is losing it to the music; in fact, most people are either starring at the idiotic dancers on the stages or too busy trying to pick up women/men.
Fourth, the main room is not properly ventilated. The smoke is just unbearable and by the end of the night I could hardly breath. This is actually a huge problem for me, because if it's hard to breath then it's hard to dance and have a good time. Going to Pacha was the only instance in which I left a club in Ibiza and I absolutely stunk like cigarettes. I had to wash my hair 3 times before I got rid of the smell!
Unless Pacha brought in some amazing musical guest that I could not miss, I would probably never go there again. The entire place is like one big VIP room where people are more content to nurse their bottles of booze than get up and dance.
