What was the turning point in your life ...

when you properly felt like a grown up?

For me it was learning to drive at 36, the first time I got into my car and drove around for 2hrs by myself, about 15 mins after passing my test.

Not getting married, reaching 21, getting a mortgage, a job or anything like that remotely made me feel grown up.

You?

I don't think I've reached that point yet.

Or maybe it's when I feel like eating some candy, and I can just go and buy some!

Lord - now I feel like the Mum of the Forum now...

I dont mean grown up all the time, just for a moment when you felt "Wow"

(*puppy scampers off to play with some toys to feel like a non-grown up now... :( ...)

Wow as in "Cool!" or wow as in "Oh shite!"?
Cos personally I don't think growing up to be an adult is something to look forward to or celebrate. Often then you have to start behaving yourself 8O

THE FIRST TIME I GOT INTO DUKES

Ahem....... Upper case for the 'T' in "The", followed by lower case, and again Upper case 'D' for "Dukes" if you please.
Thank you. ;)

I think I first felt grown up last year when we were buying our house, and I got to sign something at the solicitors

but I've gone back to being un-grown up now, don't like all the grown up stuff grown ups have to deal with

  that didnt make me feel grown up Leese, it made me shit myself and think 'What am I doin?'

Still feel really young, don't think I'll ever feel older than I do now :? Age is just a number anyway ;)

I think lots of folk are acting much younger and and are still 'cool' much later on in their lives than before 8)

Don't know if I'll ever grow up but there's been lots of false dawns:

- Leaving home to go live in Moss Side, Manchester (well Whalley Range, but near enough) at 18

- Going on my first holiday without parents, to Turkey, in the same week that my company car (and first car) arrived and the purchase of my first property went through. I was 21 and it felt like everything just shifted!

- Breaking up with my long-term girlfriend (the former) and having to pay her off. We weren't married but it was exactly like a divorce and that's pretty grown up.

- Sacking someone for the first time.

I'm old enough now to realise that you only get older a day at a time and I'll never stop feeling like a little boy in the big bad world. You just learn to pretend.
