what to do?! help plese

sorry nish, but you're hardly a shining example in the employment stakes are you? and that's what the girl's asking about. however if you are enjoying your lifestyle then that's all that matters.

Starting a new job with an "Ibiza Hangover" - now that would be worrying..... I barely remember my own name when I get back!!! :? :? :? :?

Steven it's attitudes like yours that mean a lot of young people are not given the chances they deserve. Nish might not have a job, but at least he's trying  :!: which IMO is a lot better than some people :D

people are not given chances. they make them with good old fashioned virtues like hard work and graft. i didn't get where i am by spending all my accountancy training whinging on a forum. get some work done and earn your right to do what you want to do!

Thanks

For the record I have had several job offers and interviews over the past couple of months.

I do like to have summer off to party (more) but I decided this year that I wouldn't just go into a job for moneys sake and have been applying for job that I would like to do.

Nish I'm exactly the same , I did the same last year, didn't need to work, had never had any time off since university and didn't want to take the first job that was offered to me.

I'm doing the same thing now, doing some freelancing but only going to take a permanent job if it's my 'dream' job.

thanks very much for all the advice. decided im gonna go on the holiday and be mildly sensible by keeping it at one week instead of two! just going to be honest and tell them from the start i have a holiday and hopefully as some of you have said they should understand. finished uni in june and haven't managed to get cash together to travel anywhere as yet so can't really think of a better way to finish off my summer before starting full time work than a holiday in ibiza. :D :D

I think you are being too harsh Stephen- you sound eerily like my Dad (who, it has to be said, is not as qualified nor as senior as me in the same job). Mia, if your prospective employers are worth working for they will respect your holiday especially if it was pre-booked. If it is the Dept of Education/ Social Services or NHS you'll be working for then you 'should' be able to claim back the cost of your holiday if they need you to start straight away. I did it a few years ago when I had to cancel my holiday at the last moment after a couple of my colleagus went on long-term sick. If in doubt, ask at the end of the meeting when you're sure you've got the job.

thought i'd better give you all an update. im afraid i decided not to take stephens advice (sorry stephen) and went to ibiza for not one but two weeks when i found an amazing deal i jus couldn't give up. i went to the interview which went well, told her about the holiday which she was absolutely fine about. did some work shaddowing when i got back and got the job! start mon! so thanks for advice everyone. really glad i went on a big blow out before i get started in a job. had a wicked time. ;) :D

That's when the real fun begins. Using other people's internet connection time to surf sites like this one ;)

just look at it like this mia.

i put my career first and now i'm here in ibiza with a lifestyle i love. the rest of the posters on this thread spend all day whinging about work and wishing they were in ibiza for one week.

now, who's got the right idea?

These 'whingers' are the ones who keep the forum going.. don't bite the hand that feeds you ;)
