what is the best restaurant you've been on the island?

Can't seem to locate can talayas, sa pedrera on a map... a little help please? I'd like to eat there in a few weeks :D

Like the look of El Ayoun, can anyone recommend it?

Also, does anyone have an email or phone number to make reservations? they have nothing on their website....

this little place is just behind the sports facilities (swimming pool and velodrome) at can coix. there is a bus service to it these days and some taxi drivers may even know where it is. i wouldn't recommend walking to it.

the directions are from the centre of san an take the road (calle ramon y cajal) past the football stadium and keep going, you'll pass sa capella on the right. or coming from i-town make a right on the big roundabout on the tree lined avenue into san an and again keep going.

you know that it's only a little local place - no pretensions, not posh, but just really good food? regretably, every time i've been i found it closed!

stephen's right. the venue is not much more than the back of someone's house with a wendy house type plastic cover over as roof and some basic charis and tables. no decor/interior design to speak of really. i love it.:D

its open during the summer season from about 1am to 8am every day i think

C'mon peeps, no-one got contact details for El Ayoun? Or is it the sort of place you can rock up and bag a table on the night?

Incidently (some recommended restaurants in no particular order) :

Ama Lur - voted best restaurant on the island last few years and with good reason i'd say

Tijuana - cheap, tasty Tex Mex in a venue that looks like something out of Indiana Jones - and Tony is one of the best hosts on the island

Sa Capella - Lovely surroundings, superb steaks and not anywhere near as expensive as some of the guides / Ibz magazines have made it out to be (plus a bottle of Hierbas / Frigola left on your table once you've finished eating for you to drink as much as you like)

Es Boldado - Great sunset and delicious sea food on a cliff edge near Cala D'hor

The Fish Shack (??) on Talamanca (Don't know if this place actually has a name) - real quality fish straight from the sea - basically whatevers been caught on the day

Il Pirata - cheap as chips pizza by the slice (it's lovely mind - try the bresola and rocket) in a great people watching location close to the action

Two places of I´ve eaten recently I´d recommend:

1) Restaurant Stephan (nee Bel Sito) in San An, on the same strip as Villa Mercedes. Very nice grilled bass.

2) Cheap and cheerful but very, very nice - can´t remember the name but it´s next door to the Pink Panther in the San An Bay. The swordfish was lovely, there was lots of it and it was ridiculously cheap.
