What cities had the worst club scenes you've seen?

N8, Las Vegas is one of my fave spots on the planet...

Yuck - Vegas is probably one of my most hated spots on the planet. I went there for a week on my travels and couldn't wait to leave!

Hot, sticky desert heat, horrible tacky buildings and not an ounce of class.
It all just looks plastic...loads of fat, greedy people beached at fruit machines - nasty holiday makers a plenty.

The place has no soul - it's a blot on the landscape, driven my greed, money (& Mcdonalds type companies), milking the earth's natural resources for no particular reason...other than to make MORE money.

Everybody was walking around going, "Gee, this is awesome dude" and I just couldn't get it.

LA however - 8)

Vienna - couldn't find a thing to do
Prague - clubs I visited were boring, but it's possible I only scratched the surface. The bar scene was alright though.

Didn't try to find any clubs when I was in Prague but have to disagree about Vienna. We found a club called Flex in an abandoned Metro station on the banks of the river which was rocking. They had all these picnic tables set up outside and a jukebox with loads of industrial stuff like NIN on it and all the local punks and goths came and hung out, then inside they played really heavy drum and bass. Rocking AND no glass on the dance floor because there was a deposit on your bottle!

I would like to nominate Lisburn and Newry, 2 of the UK's newest cities. I'm also tempted to say Munich because you can't get in anywhere unless you are wearing a shirt (ie one with buttons all the way down the front) and everywhere closes on Sundays, although that's maybe a little unfair as I don't know what the clubs would actually be like inside if they had let me in.

I'm not sure that's enough to lift the city's whole scene to a decent level, but it certainly sounds like a blast
If you'd mentioned it to me 15 yrs ago in my gothic-industrial phase, I might have checked it out! Drum & bass drives me nuts though...

(as an aside: do I remember correctly that drum & bass used to be played at a normal tempo? Like in the early 1990s? Sounded alright then.)

Robder... I feel you, Vegas ain't for everyone but I always have a freaking blast there.

Its not meant to be classy by the way... yeah its gawdy, tacky and obnoxious, but when I strap on my heels and hit The Strip with my girls, its like an adrenalin rush lol. And the damn Hard Rock Hotel is the most kick a$$ spot in Vegas IMOP

vienna isnt that bad, allthough its very conservative, the good places are very hided...call me the next time you are here ;)
I'm going there in October for the Austria v Northern Ireland game. What bars would be good and cheap for a few drinks before the match and what club would be good to go to after the match. its on a Wednesday night we'll be there.

N8, Las Vegas is one of my fave spots on the planet... def need to pump up the electronic music scene there!! When Baby's closed and Body English at the Hard Rock opened up, I thought the music would be cutting edge as well... no such luck. Surprisingly Ra at the Luxor played decent music last May. Drai's, the famed afterhours club, also had some sexy shyte spinning in the wee hours.

Tycoon, still flabberghasted by your commentary on Miami. You are the only person I have EVER heard complain about it. Sorry you had such a crap time there, don't know what went so awry (other than the superficial people, which can be found anywhere and should be ignored anyways).

8 years down the line and i think it's happened a little bit....

Still... I maintain my stance of a few years ago... Miami, Paris, Las Vegas nightlife is not for me... Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Barcelona, Berlin.... now we are talking... and of course IBIZA (but that's not really a city... it's a life-style!).

I agree with you

There needs to be a new series "Vegas uncovered", I'm sure it cannot possibly be as bad as it seems from photographic evidence! We are visiting Florida for a few weeks next year, is there any chance of sneaking off for a cheeky club night in the area? The villa options we are looking at and cost of are amazing compared to Europe, five bed luxury places for relative peanuts.

I have been clubbing ony in ibiza toronto and nyc. . Toronto has a lot of good pubs although we try at being cutting edge. . . The stardust age of the electronic bubble bursted long ago. . Our clubs are not music or leaders in many ways . . Often good djs come but quite simply toronto is focused in top 40. . . Theather is huge and was even bigger before. . . Now some theaters with good plays are closing for condos and shopping malls -for condos. . . Hockey is huge no matter how bad they do. Or how good they are doing . . Good recitals too. . Decent opera. . For north american standards toronto is mainly geared at old money entertaintment. Techno should not be synonymous to dirty drugs. . . But hey. . . We are not berlin. Overall. This city is safe ( fact) and i cannot complain.

Will throw this into the hat as a UK clubbing destination: Portsmouth. Everywhere shuts at 3am! Probably a good thing though, as most venues are awful.
