Im considering taking up an opportunity to stay in the old town of Ibiza , is there anything i should know about it ? am i missing out on certain things by staying there? am i close to certain attractions ie clubs/beaches.
sorry but im a novice at this stage.

The old town (known as the Dalt Vila) is a very nice place. I don't think you'd be missing out on anything by staying there. You can head downhill to the harbor area where there's lots of bars and restaurants (not to mention the fabulous restaurants in the Dalt Vila itself).

You could walk to the beach at Figueretas or take a short ride there or to Playa den Bossa.

The clubs Pacha and El Divino are close by. Again, short taxi ride to Playa den Bossa for Space and Bora Bora. The other major clubs are no more than 20 minutes away by car.

It's not all that new ;)

I've always though of it as the most beautiful part of the island (of all the more residential districts) with stunning views.

My only downside, is that I don't think you'll get a particularly large volume of holidaymakers staying there (i.e. the natives or season-ers only) and accordingly you may find it difficult to get accomodation there (maybe not though).

And someone correct me if I'm wrong, though I'm sure there's a, erm, well, pikey part of it? For gypsys or "ne'er do wells" or something? I remember there was a thread on it many years ago, hopefully someone knows what I'm talking about?! I can't off hand remember the name of it though. Stay away from that part and I'm sure you'll be fine though!

I had an apartment there two seasons running. It wasn't that bad.

Ok, it was. My landlord was a junkie. But at least he'd junkie-proofed the place and we had a great view:

However it's not actually in D'alt Vila, it's actually just outside.
