West End Revival: Art as the catalyst for change in Ibiza

no real shock for anybody who has been here the last few years. It's over. I suspect those businesses which refused the grant to diversify will regret their decision in the next few years.
Yep exactly. As per the comments on the insta post, people (youngsters) ain't really looking for a bar that's seen better days just to sit indoors.

Be interesting next few years for the area.

West End to be renamed...

... as "Sa Raval"?

... as "Sa Raval"?

Sa Raval" translates to "the outskirts" or "the neighborhood" from Catalan and relates to the Arabic word for "neighborhood". It refers to a district or area that was once outside the main settlement.

that accurate or ai garbage? 😁

I'm not convinced this rebrand is a clever move. Obviously it has its own history and has nothing to do with Barcelona but anyone googling Raval will automatically be directed to one of the worst shitholes in Barcelona - a barrio long associated with vice, junkies and general banditry.

ha ha, that's where we stay in bcn. my favourite - bar resolis - is in the same street. it's really handy for getting around by public transport, though what it's like in the early hours i've no idea.

Haha same. Pretty much every time I've been in Barcelona I've stayed in Raval. I've stayed in lots of other areas, but this is my favourite .. Not sure what that says about me 😂

I get why a lot of people (eg artists, skaters) are drawn to Raval because it feels more authentic and grittier than the rest of town. You have the galleries and record shops there which are my main reason for going. But certain streets are real no-nos. I've seen it all and it isn't fun queuing up at the cop shop at 2am because yet another friend had their bag lifted. Poble Sec down the road is way nicer imho whilst still retaining the same edge

*a bit OT but I just found the renaming bizarre
