West End Revival: Art as the catalyst for change in Ibiza

Bloody hell, I thought this was an April Fools or something.

I hope its non-slip paint 🤦‍♂️

I thought they were gentrifying the area, or something.

I like it, purely because it's different and it will not be a negative for the area in terms of footfall, will be different to see when that combines with my memories of the area 😂. As said, one thing is for sure, It will definitely not make it quieter than the last few years.

This place is often full of nostalgia, people not liking things because they're different to back when they enjoyed it, or they feel that they're 'above' certain places/tourism, feeling an area/destination/place shouldn't exist/should be changed... You can still keep those memories or continue to avoid that are without having to be a self-absorbed preacher of the 'correct' way to do Ibiza.

'The west end needs improving, it's terrible the way it is'.
*changes are made*
'NO, NOT THAT WAY'.

The idea was to gentrify the area. Instead they've updated the area to suit the exact same age and socioeconomic group as before. The younglings of 2025 will feel perfectly at home.

It's probably ordinary paint. This makes it easier when washing off the vomit and debris each morning.

Can confirm it exists. The paint seems to be non-slip, although there might be some surprised with some of the colours.

It's exactly what one would expect in a former run down part of town that needs a quick and cheap facelift.

If one wants to gentrify an area (for nutourisme) then lots of greenery and few but matching colours is desirable. Just check the pics from any modern mid to high end hotel.

In the West End the impression is to facelift the area to attract the same crowd as before. I get the backpacker and cheap hostel vibes from these .. decorations. I'm not actually complaining. I appreciate that Ibiza still caters for the younger and not so wealthy tourists.

The West End will still be The West End.

Also saw on a video the renovation of the pathway from where Shenanegans is to the Sunset Strip has started? As in new paving rather than the art work. Got announced a long time ago and idea is a more attractive walk between the two areas
