Weekly alcohol consumption

Was probably giving it the big one, a half bottle of Vodka may only be about a third, depends on people and 6 mixers may only be about 3. Varies obviously, I've only recently had money so I go about crazy these days. Last night was fairly savage, 2 bottles of vodka between 3 and six beers. Didn't buy a drink out though so at least it helps my bank balance. :)

... Feeling it now mind.

When I drink I tend to drink far too much. Over the years I've found that I remember more nights now. When I was a student I was drinking silly amounts of cheap minging booze, which was fun at the time but I kinda regret a lot of it now.

Once Ive got the taste for it I dont tend to stop, and of late since the scene here picked up ive found myself on regular benders lasting up to 72 hours. total casualty. ive decided recently to tone it down a little and get my head down at work. i used to be quite proud of my ability to hold down a half decent (if rubbish) job and still outparty most people i know, but ive realised that i was kidding myself and im going to knuckle down a bit, and hopefully start shifting some of my debt (which has pretty much been caused by boozing over the years).

After everything I posted last weekl - i officially battered my liver this weekend - I feel quite bad about it....

Some of you people are scaring me! I didn't touch a drop during January, complained bitterly the whole month about not feeling any better for it (which is what I had expected), then when I started again in February I realised I had felt much better off it after all, so it's definitely in moderation from here on.
Anyway, over the last fortnight I have had:
Wed: Went to football, followed by celebratory chardonnay
Thu: -
Fri: James Zabiela in Dublin. Pint bottle of ale in house, then pint of Heineken in club.
Sat: Back in Dublin, pint of ordinary Guinness, pint of North Star Guinness
Sun: Half a glass of generic white wine (driving)
Mon to Sat: -
Sun: half a big bottle of Cobra, half a pint bottle of pear cider
Mon: Bit of a slip-up, half a bottle of chardonnay and a bottle of Becks - for some reason I can usually resist mates trying to make me drink, but not my dad. Very poor parenting if you ask me!

Hmmmmmmmm, drinky poos, I know I'm gonna regret this.......

Cor just re-read that and I sound like a right plonky! :spank:
Right, that's it, I'm officially on a mission to mend my ways. Well, sort of, mainly to get the weight off. I run miles every week and still can't shift the weight. :? Five years ago, before I did my back in, I ran for an athletic club with an average weight of 11st 12lbs, at the weekend I topped 15st 3lbs! 8O I'm starting to get serious backache running up hills (can't avoid, its all hills 'round here), I put that down to the extra weight. :?

Last night drinking with my buddy I ditched the pints in favour of JD & Diet Cokes all night, just singles mind. We were in our local Wetherspoons, I said I'd buy my own drinks till we saw how cheap it was then drank in rounds as usual (Fosters + JD & Coke=£3.59 ). My mate had 5 pints and I had 5 JD & Cokes and I must say it worked out OK. I was probably at a similar level of p1ssedness (I know its not a real word, I made it up  ). Dunno what it will cost elsewhere as some places just charge what they like for JD & Coke, there doesn't seem to be any consistency. :?

So, whatdya reckon, will it work? Could be fun tryin' ;)

Do you know Steph, I found it easier packing in smoking than trying to cut down on the pints. Went cold turkey and took up running to help me stop smoking in 1992, never touched one since. ;)

After the weekends scales horror I am really determined and on a mission.

I dont want to even go there...... except to say - avoid beer/lager - drink Vodka or Gin & Slim Tonic if you can - a hell of a lot less calories...

I hate dieting, I hate exercise - since packing in smoking and not doing much excercise lately I feel like a right hieffer.......(went for a jog last night - gave up half way back and walked... missed 2 weeks of Pilates classes too - not good!!) - Still 10 weeks to go for Ibiza and 5lbs to shift - I WILL DO IT!!!!!

Actually 3 months gone at the weekend since I stopped smoking - and I havent had a single urge - apart from the day Benson died but I made a happy one instead..:? :? :? Cant say I have missed it at all to be honest!!

Excellent Steph! Keep it up, I've been thru some stressful times losing a nephew and my older brother and managed to get thru it without giving in. Have never had any cravings since giving up in 1992. ;)

If I could employ the same strategy and willpower with regards to food and exercise as per the non-smoking I would be as fit as a butcher's dog.....

some weeks i'm borderline binge, others i'm a steady pace throughout. Thanks to a mild cold and feeling generally cruddy i'm considering a month off the sauce. One thing is, I know my limits and I dont mix and match throughout the night. I generally have a few ales then stick to scotch/bourbon on the rocks... much to the dismay of my wallet.
