Weekend Rundowns!

Friday - Dinner at a new Mexican restaurant called Sombrero (with surprisingly strong margaritas!), followed by pre-party drinks at Just Another Bar where the DJ played some bopping house music to get us in the mood. Then over to Gazgolder where Swedish DJ Jor-El was headlining. The crowd included a friend of ours who organized last week's Moscow Swedish Film Festival along with a bunch of prominent Swedish filmmakers and musicians. Interesting conversations interspersed with bootyshaking to Jor-El's somewhat unorthodox techno style.

(as an aside, we saw the film festival's opening flick, You the Living, on Wednesday. Interesting film to watch if you run across it. Very unique style)

Saturday - Sports bar for football in the afternoon  From there straight to B1Maximum for the invite-only Smirnoff Experience event. Stood in line forever but finally go in to see Mark Ronson play an entertaining if entirely random DJ set, followed by an average performance by Kelis and then the main event - Faithless :D :D :D Solid performance with backing by a Moscow chamber orchestra (supposedly the first time they've done that). Great show! Plus free vodka cocktails all night long! :D

Went from there to the private opening of a gorgeous new nightclub called Most, but by then it was already 3am and the party was winding down. Stayed for a little bit then popped over to Dyagilev in all its excessive glory (especially when they lay out the breakfast table of fruit, cookies and champagne punch ). Satisfied a random craving with takeaway sushi on the way home.

Sunday - Went to the 15th anniversary party of a big Moscow investment bank. They took over part of a park on the Moscow river and built a "City of Dreams" - temporary pavilions, an inflatable building/chill-out zone designed by some British architect, live music stages, food areas with 5 different cuisines served by people in national costumes, open bar, random costumed people and carnival performers, and a theater with a friggin' Broadway show 8O8O8O (It's called Slava Polunin's Snow Show... you must see it if it comes to your town!). Fabulous day out! :D

These guys had Prince perform at their employee-only event the night before 8O8O8O

I can barely walk and my liver feels like it's imploding, but it's weekends like this that remind me why I love living in this city 8)

oooh am jealous! faithless live! they are full on goosebump material - well they have been every time ive seen them! :D

friday - i did a meditation evening with a friend of mine - it was very beserk and a bit too mind blowing! lol

sunday evening - sat on the phone to friends in ibiza all night!!

I had a wonderful weekend - so chilled...

Fri: - I spent a few hours shopping for spices, preparing my Tikka Sauce and marinading my chicken and making onion bhajis, very messy but very enjoyable. After a long luxurious bath (trying to get the smell of indian spices off my fingers :spank:) we were both absolutely knackered so we just chilled and listened to music and read, couldnt even be arsed to drink!

Sat: Went and got my eyes tested, its official, I am old, I now need glasses - collect them on Friday....:cry::cry::cry:

Afternoon, met my friend for a 3 hour coastal walk, and we found a new Tapas bar so sat and drank a bottle of Pinot and ate olives and bread in the sunshine - gorgeous day - I actually used public transport for the first time in god knows how many years - a very good idea as the wine/tapas option was originally going to be coffee and cake.. (didnt like being a bit tipsy on public transport in the middle of the day - felt a bit wrong..)

Cooked my (and I have to say this) FANTASTIC Chicken Tikka, Pilau Rice, Onion Bhaji's and naan breads (I cheated with them) very impressed with myself 8)8)8)8) watched Severance - then realised half way through had seen it.... still enjoyable though.

Sun: Mega shopping trip out - took advantage of everyone and their dog out watching the Great North Run - and basically had the shops to myself..... superb!!!!

Best thing I purchased????? New pillows - oh my god - I got up this morning for the first time in months with no sore neck - I feel revitalised!!! 8)8)8)

Decided, you obviously get what you pay for with pillows....:lol::lol::lol:

Friday night, a couple of Friends over for Dinner, watched England win their match in the Rugby WC, good evening!!
Saturday, gym! Then chilled for the rest of the day! Evening went to Ministry where Julian played some fabulous Disco, the Bar Rocked & Morillo tore the Roof off the Main Room. Was busy, but not offensive, Morillo had his right arm in a sling, not that it seemed to effect him playing!!

Thurs - ok not technically the wkend but must mention how good Dirty Dancing was - even better than the first time - me and Bec danced, swooned and screamed ourselves hoarse :lol:

Fri - vegged at home

Sat - out for a lovely meal and champagne at The Wharf with Rob/Erin and Bec/Karen for our wedding present :D

Sun - veggie roast and more vegging

Started to feel normal post ibiza on Saturday. Nothing much happened over weekend. Nephews 1st birthday on Saturday, watched wales get knocked out :spank::x:( then back for drinks in West Didsbury. Sunday, watched rugby, ditto Ireland but more :):p8) - good for the argies, who MAY be good for a final spot if they can keep their discipline.

Then a walk around Heaton Norris, Mersey & Moor - places in Manchester I want to buy a house in the not to distant future. Anyone knows anything good or bad please inform.

fri: went 'out' for the first time in a long time. off to the end for some lawler action. forgotten how much i love the end, always a nice crowd, a very low tosser count. lawler was, as expected, awsome dude

sat: looked at patio tiles, went into town to meet some mates for a quick drink. as mrs russ and i walked back to oxford st we passed Claridges and decided to pop in for some cocktails. very good idea indeed, got well plastered in the most luxurious surroundings. very posh indeed

sun: we went for arun for an hour along the Lee Valley. it will be such a shame when this lovley marshland full of wonderful wildlife is a car park for the olympics:x

No visits to your local nitespot Charlie Chan's Russ?

Fri - stayed in and watched a bit of telly

Sat - London Fashion Week, which was quite enjoyable but not quite what I expected. The catwalk was good though, featured the 2 girls that won Britains Next Top Model. I was just in awe of them all, all so beautiful. Some of the looks on the catwalk were very good, ones you could see yourself doing.

Sun - went for a mammoth run along the seafront, have realised how unfit I am as not done any gym action since July before Ibiza, I was wheezing, stopping, half walking half running the whole way while my friend gracefully carried on. Bluddy hard work. Then in the evening went to my new fellas house to meet his sister and her husband and his parents and baby Kiki
His sister then announced her second pregnancy so it was celebrations all round, quite an amusing night.

8O Wow, really no way back for Thelak now!!

matt, did you bring back any 'souveneirs'?

Buckers, not yet, i am saving it for a special occasion

Friday: flew to stockholm, arrived at 5pm, glass of wine in reception waiting for people and then headed to local restaurant for dinner, went to club for 1 drink and then went back to hotel and had a fantastic night's sleep, awoke to Joey breathing toxic fumes all over me, had to shout at him to take his shoes and shirt off as he was trying to get into bed fully clothed, cue cufflinks flying all over the room.

Sat: Awoke to find Joey in bed with shoes on :spank::lol:, got up and had breakfast and then headed back over to airport for internal flight to northern part of Sweden 'Umea' which was very pretty with pine trees and every bit swedish. Had dinner with everyone and then went to club for a few drinks and then retired to hotel to get some sleep, im such a light weight these days. Flight back was delayed by 15 mins which had me having a panic attack as we had a tight connection back to heathrow, we had 50 mins to check back in and get to the gate from other side of airport, we made it with about 5 mins to spare, also lucky that i decided to take bag on with me because no bags got off the place due to a strike so we would have missed the flight. Arrived back home 23:15pm tired and hungry.

Roll on this weekend . . . . Majorca for a week :)
