Weekend Rundowns...

Great Weekend - decided to be healthy and semi-sensible....

Obligatory gardening on Fri afternoon, reseeding the lawn.

Sat: Decided to be cultural and drive off and visit stuff. Ended up the coast and did a bit of sightseeing at Bamburgh Castle, its amazing that Phil and I have never actually been inside any of these places, when you have doggies, the NT are not too happy about your traipsing your pets through their castles/stately homes, so now we dont have the bairns anymore we have taken to just driving off and going off on castle trips - had a really nice day, ended up with a walk along the beach, a pint, crazy golf and fish and chips

Sun: Reading the papers and Phil working so I became a domesticated goddess. Cooked a cracking sunday lunch followed by strawberries, cream and chocolate shavings.... mmmmmmmmm - munched all day and night and had a nice quiet night in.

Mon: Went along to the Evolution Festival - my legs are in agony, we must have walked miles between stages, but what an excellent well organised day.

We caught, Hot Club de Paris - excellent band from Liverpool, Calvin Harris - I really really like this guy, he has so much energy - I think I want to adopt him...   , Simian Mobile Disco, Echo and the Bunnymen and Maximo Park - Ian McCulloch was great - a real blast from the past listening to the back catalogue of Bunnymen hits..... lots of free food and free drinks all day and some quality DJing in the VIP tents - had an excellent day - just wish it had been warmer/sunnier as its so much more fun being naughty when the weather is nicer.....8)

Oooh. I loved them back in the day *ducks*

Bring on the new messiah! Wherever he may roam!

I feel like I'm all Bank Holidayed out now, was glad to have a nice quiet(ish)! one.

After the Greatest Clothes Shopping Dicovery of the 20th Century that I made at lunchtime, and a nervous meeting with the boss where I handed in my letter of resignation 8O (eeek, as, erm, Robder would say!), my weekend started with Amé at Plastic People on Thursday. Origianally planned as a "just want to stick out heads round the corner, check out the venue (which heard wicked things about) and the DJ's (ditto), and get lasttrainhome", though then found out it didn't open til 10, and even then we were still having a drink across the road from it by 10:40 (after bumping into a few priceless (literally;)) old pals which could prove to be very important in the coming weeks ;)) and it still hadn't opened.

Still, in for a penny, in for the next 3 or 4 hours (plus we didn't want to waste the prior 5 hours of drinking!). Was just simply blown away with the music and the venue, and these guys might be my new musical fad (Move over Danny HowellS!). Storming, deep, yes a touch miniamal, though all so groovey, and all with elements of italo/cosmic disco-y sound. A proper crowd too - we were probably the youngest in there, though nothing but serious house heads who had a knowingly "knew their sh1t" look about them, though without a trainspotter in the room. Ended up performing the first "Reverse Kidnap" of the weekend ;), and was forced to roll into work at the crack of dawn on Friday still in the same (casual, smelly!) clothes from last night to pick up my change of clothes I had for the day stored there (not a pleasant experience)!

Friday was hangover hell, the daytime was all a bit hazy, and in the evening I was burning more cd's than a pyromaniac in the Cutty Sark  for the following nights gig.

Saturday - Went for a jog in the morning in the pissing rain (complete with grey hoodie, for the full Rocky experience!), burnt yet more cd's then left to see the crowd at the Abbey bar.

Twas a lovely evening marred only slightly by the weather8) . Was rather pleased with myself (and the main man Screech, who deserved more credit for playing on the Fisher Price deck!). Great company, (nods to Buckley for sorting it ;) wicked venue (can't wait to have a session in there when the sun is shining ;)), and the night was fully complete due to the subsequent visit to the Dome in Tuffnell Park for a bit of a carry on, which was all a rather surreal experience! Least said the better, though was certainly an eye-opener ;). Then was taken on the second reverse kidnap of the weekend.:spank:

Sunday was again spent in Hangover Hell, and after watching a few hours of good and not so good(!) Property Porn, sailed home to chill for the rest of the bank holiday, intermittently spent looking out the window at the rain against the window sulking like a kid who's lost his balloon :(. Saw the Prestige (ace) and went shopping at Lakeside on the Monday (along with half of the South East of England, judging by the traffic).

So yeah, a lot more civilised than the last few marathons, though thoroughly enjoyable nonetheless8)

Fri - Wedding reception with a barn dance theme8O Have to say I was absolutely dreading it.My strategy was to drive so I would have the excuse of not being able to dance until I'd had a few drinks, and since I was driving I couldn't do that! Strategy didn't work as I got dragged up by some enormous girl that I was simply too scared of to argue with8O A few dosy doe's (sp?) and then sat down again. My lack of desire to participate seemed to give the teacher even more impetous to keep calling me up for the next dance so my plans of sitting well out of the action were totally scuppered. It did make a nice change though from the usual wedding reception with some awful DJ playing the Jive bunny megamix, etc at full pelt:?

Sat - BBQ at a mates house, which was ruined by the rain and just turned into a night of oven cooked BBQ meats and heavy drinking:)

Sun - Went to London for the PSB concert.Met up with Ferd and Tamsyn and then headed down to Hammersmith to meet up with Sarah, Tom and Paul (I don't think I know him well enough yet to call him Big Head?). Got to agree with Sarah that the gig was excellent, I had no expectations really, the clientelle was mainly gay men and people on the search for nostalgia and some a mix of the 2:) The Apollo is like going back in time to the 1920's as it is all very Art Deco and seemingly unchanged since it first opened which gave it a certain charm. The show was over too quick so it was a few more drinks then back to Sarah's for some head weighing (which I never knew actual was real!) some warm cocktails and for some reason I turned into Barbara Woodhouse dog trainer extrodinaire8O After embarressing myself for several hours we departed for Heaven for Judgement sundays (I think, the warm fruit based cocktail seemed to be stronger than I thought). Stayed there and got home about 6ish, completly overslept to 1pm to then find 14 missed calls on mobile from my wife in what can only be described as explosive:( When in her irrate shouting asking where I'd been and why I hadn't answered my phone as prevously arranged (she would pick me up at 11) it was difficult to defend myself. When asked the question "Whats the matter with you, are you high on drugs or something" it was an even more difficult question to answer8O

Sun - Traveled from London to Brighton, took about 2h30mins of shouting then silence:spank: Arrived to the most appaling seaside weather ever witnessed but had a nice walk around, had a nice meal which slightly redeemed myself.
Then off to the Premiere League darts final at 7, starts at 7.30 it says on the ticket only to find the tickets had been misprinted and it actually started at 68OApparently a letter had been sent to everyone, everyone except me it seems....more browney points there, although I was more mad than the others (letter being written to ticketmaster this afternoon). Apart from that the other semi and final were great from an atmosphere perspective but not the closest of fights it was fair to say, the Power had his name on it from the start.Such a nice bloke too, he stayed around for at least half an hour after to sign autographs and gave the matchboard and his darts to a disabled lad who was in the audience.Really nice touch that, brought a tear to my eye (although I think that was helped on from the previous nights warm cocktail?)

Hope that was entertaining?
Thanks to Ferd and Tamsyn for hospitality again and Sarah and Tom for putting up with my stupidity, I hope the dogs aren't traumatised too much:lol:

Ditto!!!

Fri - Chilled one for me

Sat - Some uni mates were doing a little get together in a club just off carnaby street. Walked in and the guys had a massive magnum of vodka on the table so proceeded to get off my face and remember very little else. Apparently the singer Eve was sitting next to us which was news to me.

Sun - woke up with the mother of all hangovers and had to do the shopping for my house partay. Was a lot of fun and saw some friends I havent seen in a couple of years. good turnout of about 40 people although a few people couldnt bailed due to the rain. All the true ravers were there though, although they wernt impressed with my rubbishness on the cdj's! Was the first night I stayed over at my new flat and realised that living on Curtain Rd, whilst great is going to be quite noisy when I do have the occasional quiet one! - well I guess you dont need to be a rocket scientist to figure that one so guess im just slow on the uptake! should be a lot of fun though!

Mon - Went back home. Watched Lost finale. wow!

8)

Get yourself down plastic people mate! Top venue!
Curtain Road? Wait... is that where the club always was or did they move at some point?

Granted, it's been 10 years but I thought I remembered it being elsewhere. :?

Wicked weekend 8) All started on..

Thursday - 8am train to Kings Cross and was checked into our hotel on Shoreditch High Street by 2.30pm - nice, modern rooms. Chilled out with a couple of beers - taking advantage of the added holiday feeling given it was 26oC :p . Got freshened up and headed down to Brick Lane for a curry at Cafe Bangla, lovely food and the Princess Diana mural was as spectacular as I'd hoped  . Headed over to Covent Garden had a drink and a wander whilst checking out the minor celebs being papped on their way into an M&S fashion thingy (May from Eastenders, Jenni Frost, Jenni Falconer & Andi Peters - so gay!!!) before heading down to the Aldwych Theatre for Dirty Dancing! What can I say, just amazing :D Got completely over excited and had tears in my eyes I was so happy   Crowd was a bit more calm than had expected except of course for the finale, when even a large man in his 60s was on his feet waving his arms in the air  .

Friday - lovely 3 course breakfast in the 7th floor restaurant before deciding on some touristy activity - the Zoo! Had a great time checking out the animals, but how many birds and monkeys do they have!?! Tired ourselves out, but headed for a walk down Park Lane to check out the cars (V12 vanquish for me, only £190k) and then a wander in Harrods. Got back to the hotel for a power nap and beer before meeting some friends in a bar up the road. Poor excuse for dinner, but before we knew it it was half 11 and we had tickets for the Warehouse party in the railway arches at London Bridge. What an amazing night with highlights being Soulwax nite versions and 2manydjs set. Real illegal feel to it, right down to the dirt/rubble and drips falling from the roof, not to mention that the girls toilets were one room with 4 toilets plumbed in the middle of it 8O  - amazing night from start to finish and was not ready to leave when the lights came up just after 6.

Saturday - after a loll around the hotel and no chance of sleep, packed and headed for the 1pm train back to Glasgow - probably one of the worst journeys ever, but so worth it for the fun we had. I love London :D 8)

Rest of the weekend spent catching up on sleep and food and running out for walks when the sun came out - top Bank Holiday weekend :p

   Quality night mate, so good to see you again - you have a NBF in Lottie  I did wonder if you were going to make the early morning pick-up at 11am Monday morning 8O

Funny that, in my mind it was never going to be a problem:lol:

Your dogs were lovely, I think the naughty Lottie can be trained with further aftershow training sessions8)
