Weekend Rundowns

Fri Day - Big interview for potential new role as a result of company restructure.Seemed to go pretty well and the fact that I was in and out withing 15 mins was in this case a positive compared to my usual 2 hour long rambling interviews:roll:

Night - Attended the Gallery ant Turnmills.A very enjoyable night with some great tunes played as always by John Askew, for whatever reason we didn't stick around to listen to Judge Jules and the rest of the 4 - 6.30 I can't really put my finger on who I listened to as it was a mix of fairly unknowns in the Vaccine room, in fact that's where everyone seemed to be.

I thought it was interesting how Turnmills had been glammed up a bit, the DJ booth is now more open with Glass round the side as opposed to the Janitors broom cupboard that it was before. The walls and decorations have been decorated in the 2 downstairs bar areas and the back room (T3) seemed to have new decorations and a sound system that is much better than the main room.

Only one downside though which seems to be the loss of the lasers in the main room, exchanged with sort of red led lights bouncing off mirror balls (very poor description)

Sat - Drove back to Bristol in the afternoon and took dogs for a nice walk. Was supposed to be going out with Cheryl to a 30th party in the evening which I made excuses and got out of, she rolled in at 3.30am steaming which all of a sudden made me feel less guilty about being out all night with other mates in London on fri (again)

Sun - Cut the lawn, watched some footie, aerated the lawn, watched more footie:)

It's what all the best green keepers use apparently, probably not the same one as this from Argos though

Gets air to the roots basically, especially useful after long periods of rainfall!

so would this be good if i've got patchy grass, and the quality of the grass is poor. or should i just tan a box of wilko's lawn seed and hope for the best! :?

we'll need to open a greenfingers thread here!

i think you forgot to mention something Jonny

:p

you know what if rankers beating us meant that much i would've mentioned it but for most Tims although disappointing it's irrelevant at this stage of the season , ( i must add though that the referee robbed us of another cast iron penalty, that's 2 in 1 week now) anyway ill let the forces of darkness have their little moment of glory, we're still the champions:p:lol:

Friday: Round a mates house for a semi sophisticated evening of Chess and Wine, which turned into a not so sophisticated evening of Scotch and Playstation.

Saturday: Jon Carter and MYNC at local club. Can't see what all the fuss is about Barbie. Thought he was quite average (coulda just been an off day tho).

Sunday: Spent what little I saw of the day working :spank:

Fri - great dinner and drinks with West London people.

Sat - parents round for lunch - really good to see them but knackering.
Then met up with the usual people - great to see everyone but for me it was the worst night in Ministry ever. :( hated the crowd, hated the bouncers, hated smokin jo.

Sun - slept a bit, went for some drinks, slept again.

an irrelevance to the final league positions it may be
but every OF fan will say that every game means something

the fact that you had to refer to Rangers as "rankers" suggest a little bit of hurt there

:D

I'm far from an expert but I do like to have a nice lawn, like your's, mine is patchy in places mainly because it has got too waterlogged over the winter and the dogs have trampled it while running around fighting/playing!
I'm going to get some new turf and patch the places where it's bare as it's so much quicker than seeding.Make sure you don't cut the lawn the same length now as you do in the summer, that's the quickest way to kill it and make it patchy.

It may sound a bit sad but this book is really useful and has taught me a lot about the perfect lawn:)

you're right, it is sad!;)

(so what are you saying, don't cut it too short now or somethin - think it might be a bit late for that! 8O )

my mum's 60th birthday party this weekend. Loads of food and alcohol. My mum told me I would have to take 26 bottles of wine off her hands that she had left over !

It was quite fun and spent the evening talking to the other 60 year olds who moaned about their lack of sex and nightlife ....and seemed to think for some reason I had a wild life and wanted to live vicariously through my stories!

My mum's the best! :D

Just consulted said book and....if you scalp the lawn now you will weaken it as less leaf means less energy to the roots and plant so it won't grow:cry: You can get away with much shorter in the summer because there is so much more sun apparently8)

Fri: Got in from work - decided to go for a jog - Bloody hell - after nigh on 2 1/2 years without a proper run that almost killed me.... think I only clocked about 3 miles in all

Sat: Woke up feeling a tad stiff - did a bit mooching around the shops then off to Liverpool for the most boring birthday party ever!! Even the 50yr old porn star (without daughter) failed to liven up the celebrations - she was so quiet and mousey - not at all what I was expecting...... Only around 60 people there, oh, and we didnt really read the party invitation properly so when we got there in jeans and funky tops - everyone else was in "Bling" and decked out like contestants on Strictly Come Dancing......     on the plus side - they had catered for around 150 and the food was fab and lots and lots of it   . The numerous 'erbal tabs rolled specially for the party kept Phil and I amused for most of the night and kept us going back to the buffet table time and time again so that was the saving grace....

Sun: Did the "visit every relative whilst in Liverpool" stint - feeling like poo at this point due to far too many G&T's and really really stiff as a board from the run.

Finally left for home around 4pm and slept all the way back ......

Not a bad weekend actually, got us out of the house.

i went to prob the worst wedding i have ever attended. the reception lasted 3 hours and there was no food (not even a peanut or crisp to be had). not a single flower or baloon in sight. speeches before the meal (by this time i was ready to pass out with hunger). two bottles of wine per table of 12 was our limit. (the brides ma and pa had bottles hidden under their table though8O). no music until 9pm. my mother asked for a cup of tea at 9.30 and was told that there was none available. a truly horrible day out.

It sounds like what Babs and Toms day will be like re the wine.
Honestly though what is wrong with some people, so dry you could strike a match.

I always do refer to them as rankers.

I'm not gonna lie and say im not disappointed as i am but im not gutted like i would be if we were neck and neck with them for the title or we desperately needed the win, lot of tired players after Milan midweek and the referee done us no favours but asides from that no complaints.;)

by scalp it do you mean, mow it so there is hardly any grass and all the birds have a field (excuse the pun) day getting worms! ooops!

how do you actually work the turf you're gonna get into the rest of the lawn tho, don't you just end up with a good part and a bad part.

also, does just scattering a load of grass seed on your lawn actually work or should i be doing loads of preparation beforehand?

cheers mr. titchmarch!;)

Friday - naff all, had a headache.
Sat - Gym, shopping and huge Sushi lunch.
Sat eve - Met up with a friend for cocktails in the OXO tower, then headed along to county hall to watch Fame academy. Got fidgity/bored half way through and pegged it before the Girls aloud/sugerbabes pre record. Stayed out and got drunk afterwards.
Sun- Park, pub, usuall Sunday things.

Friday - Finally started feeling better after 2 days of flu hell :D Had a long dinner and drinks session with some friends at the Century Club in Soho.

Saturday - Irina and I took a nice stroll down Portobello Rd and around Kensington Palace Gardens. Later, we went to visit some friends at their new place in Fulham. From there, I headed over to not one but two "classy" Elephant & Castle pubs  for drinks before going to Nude @ Ministry.

I'm going to sit on the fence about Smokin' Jo and Moby. There were long stretches of both sets where I was loving it but others where I got a bit bored. The place got a bit too packed with pushy folks at one point so I made forays into the less-crowded bar for a breather here and there.

Great to see all the Spotlighters in attendance :D My responsibility homing beacon went off around 5ish so I headed back to the hotel.

Sunday - Dragged myself out of bed and off to a late-morning meeting. We then settled into our seats for a cracker of a match between Chelsea and Spurs. Recovered from near heart attack with post-match drinks at the Bridge Bar with various friends and randoms (including Roy Bentley! :D). Then off to Heathrow for the overnight flight home.

You can't say we don't drink in classy establishments can you

I wondered where you'd sloped off to - I guess a Sunday morning meeting is a good enough excuse  ;)

Good to see you again and thanks for Lost ;)
